Things don't get better after the appointment. Knowing she's having twins only heightens her awareness of the pain. With the two babies spread side to side across her pelvis their feet leave bruises on both her sides, and for once in her life she can say William doesn't help.
It starts off with walls around them thick enough to keep them parted, but she watches. He's on the phone hunched over his desk with worry lines drawn over his face most the time. That's if he even bothers being home. He ignores her when he can, unhappy that she's still helping with Operation Westminster.
He's mad at the situation, but she's the one he takes it out on, and Jaclyn isn't one to back down so she meets fire with fire.
"You let Mia skip dance?" She shouts one night, after Mia skips through KP to the playroom, not a hair out of place from her high ballet bun.
Detached and uncaring William shrugs, dropping her bag carelessly on the ground. "She didn't want to go."
"They have a showcase in a month. She made a commitment to be there."
