Harley's POV
I do my push ups as Agent Carter observes, I feel my arms burning as I keep trying to push through it and think of what I'm going to do
I wanna ask Agent Carter out but i need to be cool about it, I look to Steve who is struggling badly
"Up" Agent Carter orders causing us all to stand at attention, I see the Cornel coming over with Abraham and I can tell Abraham is irritated just but his face, I look at the Cornel who glares at me but I keep a straight face
He's been so hard on me here and using me as an example every time I mess up and he's yells at me yet when Gilmore messes up, he's gently told to do better and to try again meanwhile I'm told to do 100 push ups right then and there
Not to mention the many racist things spewed at me that he does nothing about
We start doing jumping jacks as I watch Cornel and Abraham talk, since I've gotten here I've notice odd things like the Cornel and Agent Carter talking in private a lot and Cornel keeping a close eye on me and Steve
As if we're being tested almost
I look to Agent Carter who's lookin at me already
"Grenade" I hear causing me to look around frantically, I see and jump on it but as I do Steve and I collide and cover it together
"Everyone move' I yell as I breathe heavily and look at Steve, I lift my head as I realize that the grenade isn't going to explode
I look around then to Steve who looks equally as confused as me
"Is this a test" Steve says as he looks to Agent Carter who's smiling at both of us, I get ups and help Steve up as well before walking over to Agent Carter
"Agent Carter" I say as I stand at attention in front of her
"At ease Soldier" She says with a smile causing me to relax and smile with her
"I was wondering....would you want to maybe have lunch together" I say causing her to smile and blush a little
"I'd love too.....meet me by my quarters later tonight" She says quietly, I smirk and nod as she walks away
"I got the date" I say to myself before jumping up happily, I look to Steve who has a look I can't read
Time skip
I sit on a blanket in the woods with Peggy as we eat our provided dinner for the night
"Im so glad you agreed to go on this...less then extravagant date with me" I say as I eat my sandwich
"The company is always more nice then the activity although I will say this ain't the worst dated I've been on" She says letting out a small laugh
"Well I'm happy that I didn't qualify for that...but I hope I qualify to be your partner" I say smoothly
"Well aren't you a charmer.....but you'll have to work to work up to that soldier, I'm not one of those girls that would be all over you" She says causing me to smile and put my head down
"I know...that's what makes me so attracted to you Agent Carter.....you don't take disrespect nor do you take anyone opinions, you make your own" I say, Agent Carter smiles at me before taking the last bite of her food
"You can call me Peggy...when it's just us...Harley" She says causing me to smile
"Tell me about yourself...Peggy" I say as a blush comes up on my face
"There's not much....but one thing about me is I see the world differently and I also see through peoples words and look at the bigger picture" She says as she looks at me, I see her eye go to my chest them to my lips then back to my eyes
"How did you know" I say as I look at Peggy with a relaxed expression.....mainly ready for rejection, I see her taken aback but my question causing me to smile nervously again
"I don't know what your talking about" She says as she sips her water
"Peggy...like you, I see things differently then others unfortunately not by choice....and I read between the lines and your eye contact towards me chest tells me you know that I am in fact female...and that's why I chose such a secluded area for this date..aside from the obvious of me being black and you being white" I say as I look at Peggy's shocked face
"I had seen you wrapping your chest a few times...I connected the dots" She says quietly
"And you still accepted my date" I say proudly as a smile creeps up on my face
"I do not hold a title on my attraction....I look at the person inside since the outside can be changed" She says causing me to laugh
"Mine can not...I'm seen as who I am as soon as I am noticed" I say calmly, I feel her come closer to me as she puts her hand on my thigh
"Like I said...I see the person within....your skin does not bother me" Peggy says, I look at her lips before looking into her eye as I see her lean in
I lean back causing her to stop and look down embarrassed
"I want too....but not this early, my respects for you is too high" I say, I see her smile at me before kissing my cheek and I feel a blush come up on my cheeks
"You passed your test solider.....I make my choices based on my gut and my gut tells me you are something special" She says causing me to smile
We spent the rest of the time we had talking about our lives and aspirations after the military and the war, our loves and our hates, and what we'd be
The feeling I have...is like no other
I walk back to my quarters quietly as I close the door and see Abraham standing there causing me to sigh
"Hello Abraham....is there something you have to tell me" I say, he smiles at me before wrapping his arm around me
"How do you feel about being apart of a project that could....enhance your abilities" He says causing me to look at him
"Tell me more" I say as we sit on the bed as he starts explaining the serum that I've only heard in stories with my father
No one's POV
As Harley talks to Abraham about the project, they other half of the project observes as he feels the feeling of jealousy consuming him
A/n ok well this chapter makes me sad lol, ok well ummmmmmmm yea there's that lol
