Chapter Thirty-One: I could do this all day

Harley's POV

I hold onto Steve as the missiles fire off around us, we fall to the ground as the impact shakes our already injured bodies, i hear a scream causing me look down and see Bucky hanging from the mental piece below

I look at Steve before looks back down at Bucky, can't lose him again too....can't do it

The carriers crash harshly around us as we hold on to the bars that are as sturdy as they can be, I look down and still see Bucky but he's now pinned under heavy metal

"Let's go" Steve says and I nod before jumping down and landing on my two wobbly feet, hissing as I remember I have a stab wound in my thigh

How I'm still awake, I don't know

I limp towards towards him but fall as my body is starting to give out

"Steve...save him...I can't help" I say and Steve nods before going to the metal bars and starting to lift, I see Bucky sneak his way from under causing me to sigh in relief but only a little

I see Bucky look at Steve with the same dead eyes as before, I close my eyes briefly as my vision is slowly leaving

"You know me" Steve says angrily as he gets up

"No I don't" Bucky yells as he punches Steve causing him to fly back where I am, Steve gets up and shields me as Bucky looks down confused and dazed

"Bucky...you know me...you've known me your whole life" Steve says but Bucky just punches him hard causing Steve to stumble back

"Your name....is James Buchanan Barnes" Steve says as he struggles to get up

"Shut up" Bucky yells before punching Steve again, he's sounding more desperate as time goes on

I see Steve take his mask off as he stands up again

"I'm not gonna fight you...your my friend" Steve says before dropping his shield causing it to fall down to the city below

"Uh...I didn't know if that was necessary" I say, Bucky picks Steve up and runs to the edge of the damaged area where we can finally see the city in full

I immediately get up and stumble as I watch Bucky punch Steve repeatedly, I stand behind him as Steve just looks up at Bucky

Bucky mumbles about Steve and I being his mission but I can tell he's coming back to us

"Then finish it...because I'm with ya to the end of the line" Steve says and I see Bucky lower his fist and look back at me

"Nice meeting you Bucky" I say before a large piece of metal falls causing the place where Steve is to complete shatter and he falls to the water below

I look at Bucky as he stares at me with recognition for the first time causing me to smile, he opens his mouth to speak but I back up to the edge of the breaking down helicarrier and smile at him

Bucky looks at me with worry but I stop him

"Don't worry...I'll make it" I say cockily as Bucky looks at me with tears threatening to come out of his eyes

"How do you know" He whispers out causing me to smirk

"Watch me" I say before spinning and diving into the water after Steve, I land in the water and swim towards him as he sinks to the bottom

I grab his ankle before pulling him up and grabbing his waist, I sigh as I rest me head in his shoulder like I used to do when we were in the military

To the end of the line Steve...I got you

I close my eyes as my body finally gives out and I smile peacefully

I'm with my old best friend...I'm happy now

Time skip

I wake up feeling my whole body on fire as I open my eyes to see bright lights and Nick's black ass in my face

"Hey Milk dud" I say and I hear him sigh causing me to laugh a bit

"Glad your wit didn't leave you in that water" He says causing me to smile

"Glad your bald head survived the battle" I say and Nick chuckles

"You want answers still...don't you" He asks and and I smile

"When have I ever changed my mind when it's set" I say with a smirk as I try to get more comfortable but feel my skin move in uncomfortable ways

"Calm down meat shield....your stitches from your 5 hour surgery will tear....now I will tell you everything you need to know..but business isn't done" He says before leaving, I chuckle to myself and shake my head

He can put it off but....I'll never stop wanting to know the truth
