26. Burn

David wasn't in his mind he ran outside and got in his car. He started the engine and reached the highway within seconds and drove towards the location where Aidel lived. He parked his car right at the entrance. He was panting heavily,

"HEY!!!" He screamed loudly banging the door.
He saw the door was locked from outside
"Aghhh! this motherfucker really fled away " David growled.

He forcefully break the door open and stormed inside. He scanned the surroundings frantically.
Everything was in chaos, papers all over the floor. Aidel's bag was missing too.

"Where is she...Where did they go...I'm gonna kill him..." he muttered between his heavy breathing. The veins of his forehead and temples throbbed.

He looked around the house recalling how he, Aidel and R used to hang out here. The moments together, laughing and hugging each other, playing video games and eating delicious food. Everything went froze for him when he started getting flashbacks of him and his friends. His face was contorted in anger as they were the same person who hurt his princess and took her away from him.

His breathing became rapid and shallow as he recalled everything and he felt like he was being suffocated by the rage and grief rising in his body.
"AGHH!" His throat constricted, and he felt his lungs struggling for air.

"I Hate you " He spat through gritted teeth as he watches Aidel's house burning in the distance.

He drove along the highway. it was nighttime now and there were few cars driving on the road. He sped up the car, just wanting to get somewhere far away. The wind blew coldly in his face, and his hands gripped tightly on the steering wheel. The sky was dark and stars were shining brightly above his car.

Trees flew past him, leaving shadows and shapes behind. The road was empty, but the silence was deafening. He turned off his engine and took a few minutes to calm himself down. He looked outside of the window all he can see was the road which seemed quiet, lonely, and desolate.

He pulled out his iPhone and sent Aidel a text.

"I'm coming for you, don't you dare think you're safe anywhere. I'll make you pay. you've caused me more misery than you ever can imagine. I hope this makes you happy."
He pressed send.

David's knuckles turned white as he gripped tightly onto the steering wheel.

He parked his car and got out. The moon shone brightly above his head illuminating his path.
As he approached the house lights flashed in his eyes and he instinctively looked inside and saw a little girl in a pink outfit running in the opposite direction.
He stopped abruptly and waited a few seconds trying to comprehend what happened when he heard footsteps coming closer to him he spun around to see Aidel running full speed towards him.

"David!" Aidel gasped,

David's mouth was opened as if he could say something, but no words came out instead, he just stared at him.

"Where were you the whole day ?" he asked taking another step forward, David's heart sank.

Aidel continued speaking "Did she just run inside? Damn it, David, why didn't you catch her?" He said and run inside the house.

David stepped inside the house and saw Aidel trying to catch Amelia who was behind the couch.

"Hey hey, baby! Stop it, you're going to hurt yourself! " Aidel said, but Amelia kept playing with him.

David went pale and motionless for that moment,

"Dada you can't catch meee" she teased and ran away from him. Aidel followed her and finally caught her in his arms.

"Here you are " Aidel grinned proudly. Amelia squeaked as he picked her up

"You're a cheater Aideh," she said, pouting.

"I have changed from Dada to Aideh now?" He laughed softly and kissed her on the cheek.

Amelia giggled and hugged his neck tightly. she released her hug and her head snapped to David's direction, her mouth agape. She watched David who was standing there looking lost at her. He had an expression she couldn't tell what he was feeling,

"Daddy " she squealed happily and jumped out of Aidel's embrace.

She landed on the ground gracefully. Her small feet were barely touching the ground. As she took another step forward and her big eyes were staring straight at him. She smiled widely as she started running towards David. As soon as she was near him, she threw her tiny arms around David's waist.

"Daddy!" She exclaimed once again, looking directly into his grey orbs, which glistened in the light from the lamp posts.

His mouth hung open. His eyes were locked with hers. He didn't utter a single word.

"David, what's wrong?" He approached him cautiously.

Amelia look up at him
"Daddy?" She asked quietly with concern in her voice. He kneel down and embraced her tightly. Her body smells sweet like flowers. He then looked up at Aidel,

"I thought.. you took her away from me" His voice was barely audible.

Aidel stood speechless for a moment and just gazed at David with an emotionless expression on his face.

David can't express how much pain he was feeling right now. Anger, betrayal, sadness.. all these emotions welled up inside of him, and he felt as if he would burst into pieces any second. But still, there was one thing which was keeping him sane. One thing that made him not break down. That is his Amelia, Her soft curls and her cute round face and those beautiful sparkling emerald chocolate brown eyes.

"Where did you take her today?" David ask, He was holding back so many feelings that were boiling inside him,

Aidel replied " I'll explain after you calm down, you've had a long day"

"I have got Diveaurcee" Amelia added and squeak.

"What?" David whispered.

"I took Amelia to court for her and R's divorce." Aidel
explained further.

"They are divorced now? " he asked looking straight at Adiel.

"Yes" he replied
