SEASON ONE, EPISODE TWENTY:
SCHOOL'S OUT

ZION

Since being with Zaire, my life has seemed a lot more peaceful. He hasn't forced me to do anything, we've taken everything slow, and he doesn't blame me when I get into little moods about stuff. Everything about him is just a breath of fresh air, honestly.

I was basically in relationship paradise, which was great since tomorrow was the last day of school. Then, I had the whole summer to be with him.

"I miss him so bad!" Saida whined for the millionth time, rolling around on the ground like a crazy lady.

"You are not a real person," Leila frowned as she looked down at her. "There's actually no way."

"Saida, y'all have been broken up for three weeks. Give it up. There's nothing to miss." I speak with irritation loud and clear in my voice.

She'd been doing this almost everyday since Mekhi officially broke things off with her. She's been whining or crying and it's been honestly embarrassing to watch.

Especially since the break up was entirely her fault. She cheated on him, which led to all of their issues that followed, which of course, led to the break up.

She couldn't blame anybody but herself.

And luckily she hasn't been trying to blame anyone.

"He has a track meet," She popped up from the floor, reaching for the phone. "Should I text him? Tell him that I hope he does well?"

Sometimes I wish the coach would have just let Saida run track this year. He said she couldn't because of her eating history and he didn't want to risk it, which was valid, but sometimes I wish he didn't care so that she could come to practice and speak to Mekhi there.

I ran track, and although the boys and girls had separate meet days sometimes, we would still all practice together and if she was allowed to run she would've been able to make an effort to talk to him at practice.

But since she can't, she does everything else to talk to him or about him.

"Saida, bro, you have got to relax. You're acting obsessive. Let him enjoy his meet."

"Ugh!" She threw her phone in frustration, kicking her feet. "It's just so weird! Do y'all think he has another girl he's talking to?"

"No." "Probably."

"Leila!"

"What?" She made a face as she looked at both of us. "Why ask if you didn't want an honest answer? It's been almost a month, I don't see why he wouldn't be talking to someone else."

"Because I'm not!"

"You were getting hickey's from other people while in a relationship with him, it's not like who you talk to now should bother him. So if he's talking to someone else, why would it bother you?"

"Because he was sick when I talked to Perez. So, if he's talking to someone else that's just rude."

I'm so glad Zaire and I are nothing like this.

I may be speaking too soon, but I don't even care. Even if we break up soon, I don't see it being as messy as Mekhi and Saida's break up.

"Why do you think he's talking to someone else, anyway?" I get to the point. She was asking but we had no reason to believe he was.

"We used to talk all the time, every day. Even after the breakup we still talked here and there but now we don't even speak. If I reply to his story he'll like the message but he won't respond back. I texted him last week and he read it but never texted back. There's someone else then, right?"
