SEASON TWO, EPISODE ONE:
LOVE IS POISON

MEKHI sinclair

"You have lunch?" Makiya walked beside me as I walked her to her Spanish 4 class, holding up her schedule to check her lunch block.

"Mhm," I nod, approaching Señor Castillo's classroom. He was standing outside, greeting students.

"Aw. I have C lunch, that's so lame." She huffs. "You know who's all in your lunch with you?"

"Nah, not yet. After this I'ma see. I know Lucky and Zaire got that lunch. Zion might, too, but I'on know for sure." I shrug. Even if she had that lunch the chances of her talking to me were slim since her and Saida both probably hated me.

"Oh." We approach the door. "Okay, well, I'll text you. Okay?"

"Okay." I lean down to meet her for a kiss. She smiles and turns around, walking into the Spanish class.

I watch her walk in before making my way through the halls and down to the cafeteria. The second bell rang, indicating that classes had begun and unless you were in lunch, you shouldn't be in the halls.

Walking into the packed cafeteria, I looked around at the rowdy freshman who were chasing each other around or just standing in a corner trying to decide where to sit.

I looked around for a second before seeing the people I was looking for. I walked over to the table, dapping up Lucky and Zaire before looking over at Leila and Zion. "Yo,"

"Hey." They both wave awkwardly. I take the only open seat and look to my left at Saida who was on her phone, pretending to look at something.

"Wassup, Sai?" I nudge her a little, she looks up at me and waves. She looks good, she doesn't look different than she did last year but somethings different.

I wanna say it's some weight, not a lot, but it's clear she's definitely eating more. Glad she is.

"Hey.."

Everyone had started to engage in their own conversations, which gave me the urge to talk to Saida in the hallway. I didn't know why, I just felt like it was awkward and a lot of tension. I didn't want that. Especially not with her.

"Can we talk in the hall?"

"I'm eating." She picks up her granola bar that was on the table and pretended as if she was eating it. I knew she wasn't, she probably just wanted me to leave her alone.

I understood.

"I can wait until you finish."

She huffs and drops the granola bar on the table, getting out of her seat. "Come on, and make it fast."

I followed behind her into the mostly empty hallway. Most people were in class and the few people that were in the hall weren't paying us any mind.

I took a step on the stairs and looked up at her, taking in her outfit. She had on some leggings that hugged at her body perfectly, a cropped white shirt and a ripped jean jacket with her black crocs.

It was a lazy outfit, but it looked good on her.

"This isn't making it fast. It's quite literally the opposite." She folds her arms across her chest, obviously annoyed.
