Jays POV

"C'mon, get out of the car" I sigh as Imogen holds up her end of this debate. She ignores me and watches the cars drive past, "nope" she huffs. I roll my eyes, "do you want me to get the dentist? Because I'm sure he'll be amused to see a teenager arguing over getting braces" I shrug to myself. She unbuckles her seatbelt angrily and rolls her eyes, groaning as she gets out of the car, "I don't wanna' get braces" she throws her head back as I lead the way.

"It's not the end of the world" I shake my head reasonably. She tuts at me, "for you" she shoots me a devilish glare, and I swear kids these days just keep getting scarier and scarier.  I roll my eyes once again, "look, they don't hurt, and even if they do... it's only temporary" I sigh.  She groans, "I don't care if they hurt... they're gonna' make me look stupid" Imogen nudges the door as I try to walk through it.  I turn around and shake my head, "no they won't, I promise" I frown at my sister.  She shakes her head, "I'm never smiling again" she huffs as she leads the way.  I sigh as I walk up to the receptionist to let them know we're here...

Around just over an hour later, I hear the sound of footsteps approaching from the hallway. The orthodontist appears with a small smile on his face whereas my sister follows suit with a completely unamused expression. She doesn't even look at me whilst the man next to her starts explaining the aftermath, "for the first week she can eat soup, yoghurt, a little pasta if she feels capable, yoghurt. Preferably water... after a week she can slowly start eating things she would normally eat" the man folds his arms.  Imogen keeps her gaze away from me and I can tell she's not going to speak to me for the foreseeable.  After I sign some final papers and make some follow up appointments, I turn around to see that Imogen has already taken herself to the truck.

Begrudgingly, I join her and sigh, "feeling alright?" I speak as I walk around to the drivers side.  She shrugs, "hmmm" that's all she gives me.  I tilt my head, "okay..." I huff as I begin driving her home, Will can deal with the consequences...

Wills POV

"What's wrong with her?" I walk over to jay as Imogen storms past me and straight upstairs to her room.  Jay rolls his eyes, "she's not happy, she thinks she looks stupid, and she said she's never smiling again" he shrugs.  I sigh, "is she at least feeling alright?" I fold my arms, feeling rather tired after just getting home from a Graveyard shift.  Jay shrugs as he grabs his badge and gun, "she's not talking to anyone at the minute" he raises an eyebrow.  I nod, "lucky me" I turn around and throw my scrubs into the washing machine.  Great...

Imogen's POV

It's been a week since I got these stupid braces on, my mouth no longer hurts, but I haven't smiled in front of anyone yet. I haven't talked to my brothers much, and if I do, it's always when I'm looking away from them. I'm being stupid, I know, I just don't feel the same now I have braces...

"Hey ho, dinners ready" Jay knocks on my bedroom door, "coming" I reply whilst sliding out of my desk and heading downstairs behind him. I can eat normal food a little bit now, so that's a plus I guess. Jay sets the table as I help whilst he yells for Will in the process. As I'm sat down at the table, I hear this almighty thud from the stairs, followed by around three more until there's a splat on the floor below the stairs, "fuck..." Will groans. I almost hit my head off of the table as I let out a huge cackle, and for the first time in a week I don't cover my mouth, I physically cannot stop laughing. Will just fell down the stairs...

Jay checks that wills okay before walking back into the kitchen, "you fell..." I can't stop myself from giggling as Will enters the kitchen holding his elbow. Jay snickers as tears run down my face, and they both stare at me, "shut up" Will nudges my arm. I eventually control myself as dinner is served, although a few giggles escape my lips as I replay the sound in my head, every now and then.

Jay looks up at me, "braces look good, huh?" He nods. I sigh, "suppose so" I nod. Will smiles, "you look the exact same, don't worry about it" he nods. I shrug before the giggling starts again. I can't look at him with laughing, not after that... but hey, maybe they're right. Maybe i don't look so different after all...
