Imogen's POV
Today is the first day of summer break. The last summer where I get to be a child. Crazy, huh? We're all going to my boyfriends cabin by the lake. All of us being my friends of course. Not that my dads too fond of the idea...
My boyfriends dad owns the cabin and a few paddle boards, so hopefully the weather holds out for us. My dads also not too fond of me having a boyfriend either... even though me and Lewis have been dating for two years. But hey! He can't keep me locked up forever. In fact, I'm currently waiting for Lewis to pick me up right now. My dad strolls into the room with a displeased look on his face. I sigh, "can't you just let me have this one time alone with my friends? No following us there, just let me be a kiddddd..." I drag out. My dad leans on the counter, "no trouble then" he raises an eyebrow. I scoff, "I never get in trouble" I reason with him.
He shrugs, nodding in agreement, but sighs, "and the boyfriend? You're not sleeping in the same room, huh?" He furrows his brows. I pull a face, "dad, what the hell? Why would you even ask that?" I shake my head, turning away from him. My dad laughs almost, "just asking, and I hope the answer is no" he warns. I tut, "of course it is, I'm sharing a room with the girls. Now, can I have a hug before I go?" I sigh truthfully. My dad nods, "please be careful, and call me when you get there" he smiles as he pulls me into a tight hug.
"Got to go!" I grab my bags and walk towards the door. I see my dad watching me walk away from the window and I raise an eyebrow, he is so over protective it's loud...

"Dibs the red board!" Kacy runs towards the paddle boards. I scoff a laugh, looking at my boyfriend to start a conversation, however... "not if I get it first!" He runs after kacy. Tapping her back as they race to the lake. I look at my best friend gabby, "did you see that?" I frown. She nods, "ignore him, let's just enjoy ourselves" she nudges my arm. I sigh, trying to follow her advice.
I share a paddle board with Dahlia as I watch Lewis and Kacy splash around in the water, "girl, what're you doing? Go over and get yo' man" she nudges my side and I wince. She sighs, "Imogen, go on" she raises an eyebrow at me.
Sliding off the board, I shudder at how cold the lake is, but it's beautifully cold. I take my time swimming over to the pair as I run through all the possibilities of what could happen right now. I hear kacy giggling at something he says, "you're so funny, seriously" she sighs. I nod, "hey Lew... Kacy" I smile weakly. Kacy shoots me a small smile, an awkward one, before she looks at Lewis, "hey, you okay?" Lewis frowns. I nod, treading the water, "I was gonna' head inside for some food, you wanna' come with me?" I suggest, making up an excuse on the spot.
"I'm not really hungry right now" He shrugs, looking at Kacy. I smile weakly, "that's okay, you can still come if you want? We can start the fire pit" I oppose, not wanting to sound too pushy. Lewis turns to face me, "maybe later, yeah?" He nods. I feel my heart shatter as Kacy's smile grows larger, and I bite back the tears, "sure" I manage to sigh. I turn around to swim away and I can't help but allow my body to go underwater as the warm tears spill from my eyes.
I make it back to the dock and climb up using the rope, "you okay?" Ashton looks at me, tilting his head. I nod, walking away without saying a word, "he's a dick, you know?!" He calls after me and I can't help but smile a little.
