There is a change of POV in this chapter

Quick question: during what time frame/year do you think this whole book took place?

MARC

My heart is racing faster than it had ever as I heard voices from outside the room though I couldn't make out what they were saying but I can definitely tell Mike was out there with the people that had come in.

"Marc.. are you still there?... is everything okay?" Daniel's voice snaps me out of my current state and I realize it's in loud speaker. I immediately turn it off respond as silently as I could.

"Y-yeah.. I uh.. I'm hiding in one of the rooms nearest to the entrance door but some guys just came in and-" I hear footsteps which cut me off.

"Marc?"

The footsteps fade away and I breath a sigh of relief

"I think they're looking for me now, I'll have to call you back-"

My words die in my tongue as the door to the room I'm hiding in opens slightly.

I begin moving back while I closed my eyes and silently praying that I don't hit something that makes a sound.

Suddenly the door is shut and all is quiet and so I stand still. Until the sound of a gun being cocked a few feet away from me literally drains all the blood from me.

The cold metal is placed firmly at my forehead and the lights come on revealing what makes me pass out the next second.

A tear run down his left cheek as he stares intently at me with so much pain and anger behind those eyes.

Blake Fucking Wright.

DANIEL

"Marc!"

"Please say something, anything at all"

"Please"

I whisper that last last word just as the line goes dead.

Now real fear grips me hard. I have no fucking idea what just happened. One moment he was with me and the next it's like I've lost him. So many thoughts swarm around my head right now as I couldn't possibly think of what might have happened to him just now.

"Daniel" Bryan's voice brings me back from my thoughts as he placed a hand on my shoulder. I realized I have been staring into my blank phone screen for a few minutes now and I looked up to see the rest with the same facial expressions I had.

"He will be fine" Bryan assures with a sad smile.

"You don't know that... none of us even know what we're doing here" I say as I shove his hand out of my shoulder and storm off.

"But we've come this far... I mean... this all can't be for nothing..." Addison speaks more to herself than us and I noticed that unusual glimmer in her eyes.

"Did you even get his location?" I asked Bryan.

"Something cut it off... Possibly a cell phone jammer but it was pointing at a certain location though if the call would have lasted a little longer I could pinpoint it" Bryan explains.
