"This is bullshit! There's no way that's true!"

Ngayon ko lang nakitang galit na galit si Santi. The lawyer is silent in front of us. Ganon na rin ang magulang ni Crystal.

We have this meeting para sama sama naming marinig ang resulta. The test came from the same hospital and we made sure it wouldn't get tampered with.

"That's what's written here. You all saw that I just opened the envelope." Sinabi ng lawyer. "Unless someone tampered with the results."

"It's not. We all made sure it won't get tampered." Mr. Ling said. "We won't risk our family's name just to tamper the result."

"No...no. That's not true. There's no fucking way." Santi cursed

I was full of hope and positivity when we entered this office. Dahil sigurado akong hindi si Santi ang ama ng anak ni Crystal. Pero bakit ganito ang resulta? Why does the document says Santi is the father?

"Hey, hey Maxine. Hey! Maxine!"

"H-Huh?"

I blink twice and I realized that everyone is already looking at me. Nakaluhod na sa harapan ko si Santi, hawak ang dalawang kamay kong nanginginig. His eyes mirrored pain and panic.

"W-What?" I asked.

Why is he panicking? And why do the others look surprised?

"B-Baby..."

Santi covered my hands with a handkerchief. Bago niya 'yon matabunan ay nakita ko muna kung anong itsura ng kamay ko.

My lips parted. I can see the side of my nails bleeding and there are strands of hair in my palm. And when I look down, I can see scratches marks, and wounds on my legs.

"D-Did I did these...?"

Hindi nagsalita si Santi at niyakap lang ako ng mahigpit. Doon ko napagtanto na kaming dalawa na lang ang nasa kuwarto. Since when did they leave? Why didn't I notice?

"I'm calling your doctor."

Tinignan ko lang siya. What did he say? Why can't I understand him? What the hell is happening to me?!

Bumuhos ang luha sa mga mata ko. It's like my mind just processed the result of DNA test. Hindi ko alam ang gagawin ko. Hindi ko alam ang sasabihin ko. I just cried so loud that all I hear was my sobs and the silent shattering of my heart. I could hardly breathe. I could hear voices calling my name but for some reason, I couldn't recognize them.

"Maxine! Maxine, damn it! Hey! Come on, get your shit together!"

"D-Doc Martinez?"

"Thank god!"

Parang pumikit lang ako at pagdilat ko ay nandiyan na siya. And we are not in the office anymore. We are in Santi's condo. Inside his room. Nakahiga na ako sa kama at nasa malayong banda na si Santi.

"W-What happened?"

"You had a panic attack. The first one after eight years."

Panic attack?

"No... I never had this kind of panic attack before."

"I'm still trying to figure it out. In the meantime, please don't stress yourself. We don't know what you might do next. Don't stay alone. This is serious, Maxine."

She gave me some pills that made me sleep. Kinabukasan hindi pa rin ako makausap ng maayos.

"We're gonna do another DNA test. There must be something wrong with the first one. We will do it again." He talked to me during our breakfast.
