"Maxine! Oh my gosh! You look like a vampire!"

"Seriously? That's your way of welcoming me for coming back home after six years?"

Humalakhak si Louisa sa sinabi ko. Akma pang dadambahin ako ng yakap mabuti na lang at napigilan ng asawa niya. She must've forgot that she's seven months pregnant!

"But seriously, you're so pale! Kailan ka ba huling naarawan? Napakaputi mo!"

"You're exaggerating. Can't we go now? Kanina pa tayo pinagtitinginan ng tao dito."

Saka niya lang siguro napagtanto na nasa gitna pa kami ng airport. Ngumiwi siya ng mapansin ang tingin sa amin ng marami. She tugged her husband's arm like a kid.

"Babe, alis na tayo. Baka mapagkamalan si Maxine na bampira at mapagkaguluhan pa."

I rolled my eyes playfully at her. Nginisihan niya lang ako at hinila na patungong exit. I thanked her husband for dragging my luggage for me. Isa lang naman 'yon at isang bag para sa iba ko pang gamit. I'm not sure how long I'll be staying here so I only brought few sets of clothes. Kapag nagkulang, meron pa naman akong mga gamit sa bahay namin.

Pumasok sa isip ko ang dalawang taon kong tinirhan kasama si Santi noon. Back when we were still living together. Most of my clothes were there. I wonder if...

Nah. He probably disposed all of those already. Lalo na't karamihan din doon ay regalo o binili niya para sa akin.

"I can't wait to see their reaction when they see you. I bet it'll be priceless! Maraming umaasa sa pag-uwi mo kaya siguradong matutuwa sila. Lalo na si–"

"Babe, seatbelt please."

Louisa pouted when her husband cut her off. She made a face and then made another face like she just realized something. Nagtakip pa siya ng bibig na para bang may 'di siya sinasadyang gawin.

"Oops! Muntik na. Pero mukhang okay naman na siya!"

"Still, Louisa. Not yet."

I look at them confusedly. What are they talking about? I feel out of place.

"Fine. Anyways! Where do you wanna stay? I can book you a hotel or you can stay at my condo. I don't use it anymore since I'm already married and I live in a house now with my family. Or you can stay with us!"

"Hindi na. Ayoko ng makaabala pa. I'm thankful enough for both of you for picking me up at the airport and keeping this a secret. I'll just borrow your condo for the meantime. Sa bahay na naman ako titira pagtapos ng kasal ni Ate Vera."

"Hindi ka makakaabala, 'no! Makakatulong ka pa nga, e. Pwede kang babysitter ng kambal!" Humagikhik siya sa sariling ideya.

Napailing na lang ako. Ang laki talaga ng pinagbago niya simula nung maging maayos ang lahat. The once rebellious Louisa was tamed by the person we least expected her to be with. Who would thought that she and Gio would be together? Wala sa aming nag-akala no'n. But now, they had twins and an upcoming baby girl. Love really works in mysterious ways.

"Oo nga pala, I already have your bridesmaid dress. Nakapuslit na ako ng isang mula sa designer. Kunin na lang natin sa bahay ngayon. You should visit your nephews as well. They missed you! The last time they saw you was two years ago, right?

They're the only ones who knew about my arrival today. I'm planning to surprise Ate Vera at her wedding, which is tomorrow afternoon. It's a sunset wedding, na gaganapin sa isang private beach na pagmamayari ng pamilya ni Ate Vera.

"Alright. I'll spend the night in your house na lang for today. I missed the kids, too."
