I feel betrayed. I was pouting the whole time while video-calling my cousin. He shotgunned me with his responsibility! I was just an ordinary citizen and in one snap, I became a Director of an airline!

"I can't do this, Kuya Drake! What about Kuya Dracus? Or our other cousins? Why me?"

"Why not? You handled the airline once before."

"That was seven years ago! Anim na taon na akong tumigil sa pagiging flight attendant, Kuya. Halos makalimutan ko na nga ang mga safety reminders–"

"Wala kang maloloko dito, Maxine Eleanor. Grade Eleven ka pa lang, kabisado mo na 'yon."

Bumagsak ang balikat ko. I thought he will bite on that unrealistic alibi, though it was a little bit true but I can recall everything once I come back to being flight attendant again. Pero hindi ko sasabihin kay Kuya 'yon dahil mas lalo akong mababaon sa responsibilidad niya.

"But I don't know how to be a director! I was just Tito Drave's assistant for six months, and that was seven years ago, Kuya. Wala akong alam sa pagpapatakbo ng airline!"

"I have my assistant and secretary to guide and attend to you. If you have questions, just ask Dad or call me. Just for two months, Maxine. Just give me two months."

Biglang sumulpot si Ate Vera sa likuran ni Kuya Drake at nag-beautiful eyes.

"Pagbigyan mo na kami, please?"

I sighed. Biglang sumakit ang ulo ko sa biglaang mabigat na responsibilidad na naka-atang sa balikat ko. It was heavier because I wasn't expecting it. Akala ko makakauwi na ako sa Rome pagtapos ng kasal!

Uuwi ka ba talaga?

I don't know...magulo pa ang isip ko.

"Pretty please, my gorgeous cousin-in-law?"

Patuloy na nagpacute si Ate Vera. But cute is not a fit description to her. She's beautiful with a confidence so regal. Something that she learns when she became an international model. Bumuntong hininga ako. Labag sa loob na tumango ako.

"Fine. Just for two months."

"Yehey! Thanks, Maxine!" Ate Vera did a happy dance that made me chuckle.

I ended the call with mixed emotions. Malinaw ang plano ko bago ako umuwi dito. To attend the wedding and spend some time with my family, then I'll go back to Rome. I found a life there so I was very sure I'm coming back. Pero ngayon, may responsibilidad na akong hindi pwedeng takasan. Bukod doon, naging malabo na ang plano kong umuwi simula pa lang nung gabing nag-usap kami ni Santi.

It's been almost a week now since I last saw him. We part ways at the airport since we have our family's private plane, and they have theirs. Gusto pa sanang sumama ni Cohen sa amin kaso may pasok siya kinabukasan. I just promised him that I would visit when I'm free.

Na mukhang hindi mangyayari dahil sa pinsan kong binigyan ako ng mabigat na responsibilidad.

I started working after two weeks of refreshing my knowledge about our business. When I say refreshing, I mean I read all the past documents about the airline for the past three years. Halos matabunan na ako ng mga files sa dami no'n. Also, during those times, dumadalo pa ako sa ilang importanteng meetings at nire-review ang mga urgent documents.

It's been a while since I became this busy, kaya hindi na ako nagtaka pa nang magkaroon ako ng trangkaso. Unfortunately, nataon pa ang sakit ko sa araw ng investors meeting for the launching of a new project.

I have been feeling lethargic since I woke up. Pero tumuloy pa rin ako sa trabaho. Investors meeting is very important. I shouldn't be absent even though I'm sick.
