(A/N: this was inspired by a rp with -_Anxious_Writer_-, and basically what happens is Ranpo and Poe realize their feelings for each other and confess. Without further ado, enjoy!)

Ranpo had recently realized something that shocked him: Poe had a crush on him. Well, part of him was shocked. The other part of him thought that Poe had liked him for quite a long time. Usually Ranpo was pretty good about figuring things out quickly given his super deduction, so he wasn't sure why it had taken so long this time. Plus, Poe was really easy to read. Ranpo ruminated on these things while he sat at his desk and sucked on a lollipop. He wondered how long he'd be able to keep up this game of his. How much longer could he keep pretending that Poe was just a friend to him? Truth be told, he hadn't returned Poe's feelings at first. But as the two of them hung out more, Ranpo started to find Poe absolutely adorable and often thought about him without even realizing it.

Meanwhile, Poe was thinking similar things. He'd recently come to the realization that he had a crush on Ranpo and had for a long time, but he had no idea how he'd actually tell Ranpo that, or if he even should. What if Ranpo hated him for it? No, he wouldn't hate me. He's too nice to do that. But...I don't know. Should I tell him? Ugh...why is this so complicated? Poe wondered. He sighed. He couldn't just avoid the truth forever. Ranpo, being the master detective that he was, was bound to find out sooner or later if he hadn't already. Plus, Poe didn't want to lie to the most important person in his life. He took a deep breath and began to dial Ranpo's number.

Ranpo thoughts got cut off short when he heard his phone ringing. He took his phone out of his pocket to see that it was Poe who was calling.  Many thoughts of why the novelist would be calling him ran through his head, but he denied every single idea, knowing that it wouldn't happen. He answered the call. "Hiya, Edgar!"

AHHHHHH HE USED MY FIRST NAME!!!! Poe thought. "Hi, Ranpo!"

Ranpo smiled a small bit at the sound of Poe's voice. "What's the reason for you calling me, bud?"

HE CALLED ME 'BUD'!!!!! "Um...I have something to tell you. Is it possible for you to meet me somewhere?"

"Oh? Yeah, of course! Where to?" Ranpo pulled out a pen and paper.

"Hmm...how about that field not too far from the agency?" I think that's a nice place for us to be alone together.

"Sure, sounds good. I'll meet you there." Ranpo wrote it down.

"Great! See you soon then. Bye."

"Bye." Ranpo hummed slightly as he hung up. He put his phone back in his pocket, got up from his chair, and left the office to go to the spot Poe mentioned.

Already wondering if this was a good idea but unable to back out now, Poe began to head to the spot he and Ranpo agreed to meet at.

It didn't take Ranpo long to find the spot seeing as it was fairly close to the agency.

Poe noticed Ranpo and began to head over to him.

Ranpo noticed Poe heading over to him and waved, smiling. "Hiya, Poe!" Though I dismissed a lot of possibilities that could've happened in this meetup...I'm starting to rethink that. Why wouldn't he just call me to talk somewhere in private?

Poe smiled back and waved. "Hi!"

"So, what is it you wanted to tell me?"

Poe froze for a minute. He knew he had to say it since Ranpo had gone through all the trouble of meeting him, but he was having second thoughts. "The thing is..." he began, looking at Ranpo, but then he averted his gaze and fell silent. You have to tell him, you have to...

Ranpo tilted his head slightly before smiling a small bit. He walked closer to Poe, booping him on the nose. "You don't have to tell me, Edgar. I already know."

Poe blinked. "You already know what?" HE USED MY FIRST NAME AGAIN!!!!

"Heh, I already know that you like me."

Poe's face heated up and he averted his gaze again. "...How'd you know?"

Ranpo giggled. "You're very easy to read, Poe. Besides, how you act around me was enough." He placed a hand on Poe's cheek.

Poe blushed more. "T-that makes sense..."

Ranpo tilted his head again. "Though what took you so long to finally tell me?"

Poe glanced at Ranpo. "I meant to tell you sooner, but...I thought you wouldn't feel the same, so I always avoided it..."

"...Well, I always felt the same about you, Poe."

"You did?"

"Indeed, though I decided to play a little game instead, not knowing how long it would go."

"Wait, wait, wait. You just let me be confused this whole time?"

"I was technically waiting until you finally confessed, I just didn't know it would take this long."

"That makes sense. Sorry again about that."

"You don't need to apologize about something like that." Ranpo pulled Poe's face closer to him.

Poe blushed again. "Well...if you say so."

Ranpo glanced at Poe's lips, looked back at his eyes, and then moved closer and kissed him.

Poe was shocked at first, but he returned the kiss.

They stayed like that for a few minutes until Ranpo pulled away.

Poe also pulled away, glad that he'd finally made his feelings known to Ranpo and even more glad that Ranpo returned his feelings.

Ranpo was blushing softly as he opened his eyes and looked at Poe.

Poe's face was also red as he gazed at Ranpo.

A small smile formed on Ranpo's face as he raised his hand and moved Poe's hair away from his eyes.

Poe blushed more.

"You should really show your eyes more, they're very pretty," Ranpo noted.

Poe was shocked. "They are?"

Ranpo nodded. "Of course. I don't see you show your eyes often but when I do, I always thought they looked beautiful."

"Oh, um...t-thanks."

"Of course, my love."

Poe averted his gaze.

Ranpo chuckled a little.

Poe looked at Ranpo. "What's so funny?"

"It's nothing, you just look quite adorable right now."

That shocked and flustered Poe even more. "I what?!"

"What? Not used to being called adorable?"

"I mean...it depends. You're the only one who calls me adorable, but yeah. I guess I'm not completely used to it."

"Heh...well, you should get used to it with me around."

"I suppose that's true."

Something else came to Poe's mind. "Ranpo...am I really that easy to read?"

"Hm? Why of course, why would I lie about such a thing?"

"I didn't think you were lying, I just wasn't completely aware that I was that easy to read."

"Well, it doesn't exactly matter now, hm?"

"True."

The two of them hung out a bit longer, and then they bade each other goodbye. They agreed that they had quite the dynamic, being rivals to lovers and all. But they also wouldn't have it any other way.
