When school started on Monday, Harper walked to her locker, feeling a mix of excitement and nervous energy. She put her bag inside and started organizing her books, mentally preparing for the day ahead. As she reached for a notebook on the top shelf, a pair of hands suddenly wrapped around her waist and lifted her off the ground.

She squealed with laughter, instinctively trying to squirm out of Chase's grip, but he only tightened his hold, twirling her around. His laugh was infectious, and Harper couldn't help but smile as he spun her in the air, pulling her closer to his chest.

As they shared a quiet laugh, Harper's heart fluttered at how easily they had fallen into this new dynamic. Ever since that kiss, things had shifted between them in a way that felt both natural and exhilarating. They'd been friends for a year, but somehow, this new chapter felt like it had always been meant to happen. It was as though their friendship had simply been waiting for the right moment to bloom into something deeper.

Some students passing by shot them curious looks, but neither of them cared. The shift from friends to something more had happened so quickly, and while it was new, it felt right. Once word had gotten out that they were officially a couple, everyone's reactions had been unanimous: 'finally', 'about time', and, Harper's favorite, 'it was painful to watch'.

"Okay, okay, you can put me down!" Harper said, laughing as she pulled back slightly. Her cheeks flushed with joy, the warmth from their shared moment lingering between them.

Chase chuckled, gently lowering her to the ground and giving her a smile that made her heart skip. "Better?"

Harper nodded and stepped closer, wrapping her arms around his neck for a hug. As she rested against him, she felt his fingers lightly tracing circles on her back, the sensation calming and comforting. It was a small gesture, but it made her feel safe and loved in a way she never knew she needed.

She pulled away, looking up at him, her heart full of affection. Without thinking, she leaned in and kissed him gently, savoring the sweetness of the moment. Chase cupped her cheek as he kissed her back, his touch tender but eager, as if he couldn't get enough of her.

"You two are so adorable!" Bree's voice broke through with a teasing lilt, walking up to them with a stack of books in her arms. "But maybe tone down the PDA a bit."

The new couple quickly separated.

Harper gave a tight smile and cleared her throat. "Sorry, Bree."

"Hey! Wilson, Hansel and Gretel." Principal Perry called out, appearing out of nowhere as she walked over to the three teenagers. "My niece is visiting from... um... wherever she lives, and I'm gonna assign you three to be chaperones for a couple of days."

"Oh, uh...." Bree hesitated, clearly not thrilled about the prospect.

"Well, see, I can't..." Chase started, adjusting his satchel.
