Amphitheater

As I sat amidst the grandeur of the Amphitheater, I couldn't help but feel a sense of detachment from the disturbing trades and auctions taking place. Coming from modern-day Earth with a set of morals and ethics, I was appalled by the dark and twisted transactions unfolding before my eyes. Yet, strangely, I found myself uttering the word "boring" in reference to it all.

The irony was not lost on me. I, after all, was not even human. I lacked the capacity to experience emotions or comprehend what boredom truly meant. And yet, here I was, expressing a sentiment that seemed completely out of place for my nature.

"Young Master, that's in inappropriate choice of words."

In my side, my custom maid, Serene, a beautiful and delicate-looking woman on the surface, interrupted my thoughts with her disapproving comment. Despite her appearance, she was a military-grade android concealed within human-like skin. Behind that seemingly fragile facade lay a dangerous killing machine, ready to eliminate anything or anyone deemed an obstacle. She possessed an emotionless face, harboring a cynical outlook towards all but my possessions and my trusted friends. In her eyes, all other living beings were nothing more than insignificant bugs.

Her remark served as a reminder that my detachment from the disturbing activities in the trading house did not align with her programmed directives. We existed on different wavelengths, bound together by circumstance rather than shared values.

With a sigh, I acknowledged the dissonance between my thoughts and Serene's reaction. It was time to prepare for my next venture, to Speiza, afterwards. Because this place is too disgusting.

"For the first product! These are twins! From rare beastman tribe of Black Fox! Both strong and healthy! Let's begin at 350 gold!."

In the podium, the emcee's words echoed through the Amphitheater, his callous description of the children as "beastman tribe, both strong and healthy" adding fuel to the fire of my disgust. I couldn't fathom how such a vile practice as selling innocent young lives as slaves could be happening before my eyes.

The crowd around me seemed to revel in the grotesque spectacle, their eagerness to own these children evident in their immediate bidding. From faces that appeared innocent, to old guy, baldy guy, insomniatic, white and black, and even to those marred by the effects of substance abuse, practically drug addict, all seemed equally eager to possess these young souls, talk about non-discriminatory idiocy and degeneracy.

"I want them! 400 gold!" shouted one person, their voice dripping with a sickening combination of greed and entitlement.

"No, me! 430!" called out another, their bid surpassing the previous one with a twisted sense of competition.

The atmosphere thickened with the stench of inhumanity, and I couldn't help but recoil inwardly at the repulsive behavior unfolding before me. It was as if these individuals had abandoned their humanity, reduced themselves to mere predators in pursuit of greed.

I glanced at Serene, my faithful but emotionless maid, and saw her impassive expression mirrored my own revulsion. She, too, recognized the depravity of the situation, the blatant disregard for the sanctity of life and the devaluation of human beings to mere commodities, or she just already saw everyone here as trash to begin with.

In that moment, I felt the weight of my promise bearing down on me, save that... It was the only reason I had allowed myself to witness this abomination, is due to that promise. The thought of breaking my promise gnawed at me, but the sight before me made it increasingly difficult to maintain my composure.

As the bidding continued. I would not let these innocent children suffer at the hands of those who had lost their humanity.

So fuck it, I raised my hand and said. "TEN THOUSAND GOLD." Silence fell upon the Amphitheater as my bold proclamation reverberated through the air. All eyes turned towards me, a mixture of shock, curiosity, and disbelief painted on their faces. The bidding war had escalated, but I refused to let these innocent children become pawns in the twisted game of those who had lost their humanity.
