The Mysterious Picture

After my great-grandmother, Lady Karissa Elizabeth Ann Howard-Carey nee Lowell passed away in 2330, my grandmother, Lady Elizabeth Victoria Ann Beltane discovered a mysterious picture of my great-grandmother with another young man.

The young man was not my great-grandfather or step-great-grandfather, and it was not of Lt Kevin Thomas Riley either.

It was found in her Hope Chest among her personal things including the pearl necklace that my great-grandfather had given to her on their wedding day, her wedding dress, bouquet of dried flowers, and her correspondence to Dr. Leonard David McCoy, but it was not Dr. McCoy either.

My grandmother takes it to my great-grandfather and she asks him " Who is this father?"

"My great-grandfather looked at the picture and he told her " I have no idea, Lady Elizabeth. Did you ask Lt Commander Riley?"

"No father. I am going to ask Lady Caroline Matilda to ask her father in law if he knows." My grandmother tells my great-grandfather.

My grandmother gives the picture to my grandaunt and asks her " Ask Lt. Commander Riley if he knows who this is with our mother?"

My grandaunt shows it to her father in law, Lt Commander Thomas Kevin Riley and he looks at it and he tells her " I think it Karissa with her late finance, Mr. Roy Lamonte Mock, and she told me that he died before she left Planet Earth. He died of prostate cancer."

"Your mother didn't bring much with her and only what she could carry in her suitcases and if I remember right that was her clothes, treasured pictures, and her portable radio." Lt. Commander Kevin Thomas Riley explains.

"Karissa wouldn't tell me much about Roy, but only that he died young at the age of 17 years old." Lt.Commander Kevin Thomas Riley tells my grandaunt.

"You see he came down with prostate cancer as a result of radiation sickness and they got into remission once, but the second time the doctors couldn't get into remission and they told both of them "It was terminal." Lt. Commander Kevin Thomas Riley tells Lady Caroline Matilda.

"Karissa did tell me that Roy and she were going to name the first daughter Elizabeth Victoria Ann Beltane, and when she met your second cousin twice removed, she told him I will name our first child and it must be a daughter, Elizabeth Victoria Ann Beltane and he agreed to it." Kevin explained.

"Karissa was adamant that the only way she would marry Lord Andrew Charles was if he gave her a daughter or she wouldn't marry him." Kevin explains.

"Karissa told him in no certain terms " MY ELIZABETH will succeed you, Lord Andrew Charles." Kevin tells Lady Caroline Matilda.

"Karissa loved your oldest sister very much and I think in her own way she loved Lord Andrew Charles Howard, but as time went on she really loved your father even more." Kevin explains.

"Lord Andrew Charles gave her -her daughter Elizabeth named after Queen Elizabeth The First of England, Victoria named after Queen Victoria and Anne named after Queen Anne of England and she was born on The Pagan Sabbat of Beltane." Kevin explains.

"I remember how proud she was of Lady Elizabeth and how Lord Charles Andrew Howard Junior used to show her off." Kevin explains to my grandaunt.

"I can tell you what your mother didn't like, it was the aristocracy on Star Base 12." Kevin tells Lady Caroline Matilda.

"She married into it but she was not born into the aristocracy and she wanted no part of it until Lord Charles Andrew Howard Junior created her Marchioness of Pembroke Territory. " Kevin tells Lady Caroline Matilda.

"Your mother called Lord Andrew Charles a runny nose aristocrat with a gold spoon stuck up his rear-end, but that is not the word she used." Kevin admits.

"I am sure that your mother brought some other pictures with her of her family when she left Planet Earth in 2270." Kevin tells my grandaunt.

"I wouldn't show that to your father." Kevin tells Lady Caroline Matilda.

"Lady Elizabeth has already shown it to her father." Lady Caroline Matilda tells Kevin.

"For the sake of your father, don't show him that picture. It was a private picture she carried with her in 2270 and it is their last picture taken together before he died in 2270." Kevin explains.

"Lady Caroline Matilda. Please put it back into your late mother's Hope Chest." Kevin asks Lady Caroline Matilda.

Lady Caroline Matilda does what her father in law asks her to do and she places it back into my great-grandmother's Hope Chest.

There are other pictures in the Hope Chest as well along with treasures memories of long ago.
