A year later. Delacroix, Louisiana.
(Chloe's POV)

"How old are they?" I asked Sarah as she handed me a glass of water and sat next to me on the porch.

"Thirteen and twelve." She said smiling at the two boys playing in the front yard. "AJ and Cass are a big help. They take on a lot of responsibility. Sometimes I worry it's too much."

"They know you love them. And they know that anything they help you with, they can handle." I told her taking a drink of water.

A truck drove up the driveway and AJ and Cass ran towards it. "Let him park before you attack him, boys!" Sarah reminded the boys.

The driver door opened and Sam climbed out. He was talking to someone and then turned his attention to his nephews. "They really love him," I smiled.

"They do. He's great with them." Sarah nodding.

Bucky was standing on the other side of the truck watching us. I smiled and waved, and he waved back. I could overhear the boys talking about me to Sam and Bucky as they got closer.

"I didn't know you were coming," Sam smiled as he walked up the porch. "I would have been here if I knew you were going to come."

"It's fine, don't worry about it." I stood and hugged him. "Besides, your nephews are pretty good at keeping visitors entertained,"

"Yes, they are," Sam laughed rubbing AJ's head.

"Hey," Bucky smiled as I hugged him.

"Hey, Buck,"

"Seriously, what are you doing here?" Sam asked curiously while Sarah took the boys inside.

"I was hoping to talk to Bucky about something," I told him.

Bucky looked slightly concerned. "Oh, sure. I'll go get a drink then." Sam nodded as he followed his sister and nephews inside.

"What's up?" Bucky asked as he sat down in a chair.

"A lot. I've been busy," I told him.

"So I've heard." Bucky nodded.

"So have you. Being a superhero keeps you very busy."

"That was mostly Sam," He shook his head.

"But he wouldn't have been able to do it without you. And you wouldn't have been able to do it without him. It was a team effort." I told him as I sat across from him.

Bucky made a noise I couldn't identify. "What have you been up to?"

"Um, I got my GED, graduated high school, and I'm going to college in the fall. I got into Caltech. Don't ask me how though," I laughed.

"I'm proud of you, congrats." Bucky genuinely smiled.

"Thank you,"

"What else?"

"Um, I got a boyfriend, got a job, and I went looking for my dad."

"Did you find him?" Bucky leaned forward, his elbows resting on his knees.

"Yes. No. It's complicated."

"What do you mean?" Bucky asked.

"I found him. My dad. But he died." I half explained.

"I'm so sorry," Bucky gave me a pitying look.

"I'm not, he wasn't a good person. Anyways, he should have died long before he did." I fidgeted with my ring. "Besides, who needs him when I have a lot of other guys willing to step up to play Dad for me?"
