"You three really have some skills! Still running, can monks run away from the temple?"

Teacher Jiang looked at the three with a half-smile, sitting in his chair. It was unclear whether he was angry, but it made people inexplicably uneasy.

Cen Huai'an and the others lowered their heads, standing in front of Teacher Jiang, behaving like well-behaved kittens. It was hard to believe that they were the same students who had just jumped over the wall, been caught running away by the discipline director, and brought back to the class.

"Zhang Lu, as the class monitor, do you remember the student code of conduct?"

Zhang Lu quietly lifted her head, glancing at the homeroom teacher. "The first rule of the student code of conduct is..."

"Stop." Before she could finish, Teacher Jiang interrupted her. "Since you remember the student code of conduct, did you forget the part that prohibits students from jumping over walls during class time?"

Zhang Lu shook her head and said, "Teacher, we didn't jump over the wall during class time. It's exam time, and we went out after finishing the papers."

"Isn't an exam still a class?" Teacher Jiang glared at her.

Zhang Lu confidently nodded, "No, it's an exam."

Teacher Jiang was so irritated that the smile on his face almost disappeared. "Zhang Lu, shut up. Say one more word, and your punishment will be doubled!"

Zhang Lu immediately closed her mouth tightly.

Teacher Jiang then turned to Cen Huai'an and Tang Song, looking displeased. "I thought you two were more sensible students in the class. What's the result? The better you behave in class, the more surprising things you do outside! Especially you, Cen Huai'an, you have a day student pass after school. Where did you go that you have to climb the wall?"

Cen Huai'an was very honest. "To buy roasted sweet potatoes."

Teacher Jiang stared at him for a while without saying anything. These students of his were truly a group of talented individuals.

After taking several breaths to stabilize his emotions, Teacher Jiang looked at the three students still standing in front of him with obedient expressions. "One thousand words of self-criticism for each of you, to be read during the flag-raising ceremony in front of the whole school. If you don't run, just reflect in the class; this is the consequence of fleeing in fear! Also, from now on, after class, the three of you will patrol by the wall on the playground. When you catch the next person climbing the wall, you can stop patrolling."

Cen Huai'an: "Teacher, can I write a two-thousand-word self-criticism instead of patrolling?"

Zhang Lu: "Teacher, I can keep patrolling all the time. Can I skip the self-criticism?"

Both spoke at the same time, and Teacher Jiang snorted, "No, you can't."

Cen Huai'an and Zhang Lu glanced at each other, obediently accepting the punishment as they walked out of Teacher Jiang's office.

Tang Song was about to say something when Zhang Lu grabbed Cen Huai'an's arm, "I'll patrol for you, and you write the self-criticism for me."

"Deal." Cen Huai'an didn't hesitate at all.

Tang Song's open mouth closed.

In one class period, Cen Huai'an completed both his and Zhang Lu's self-criticisms, each reflecting a different style.

Meanwhile, as soon as the class ended, Zhang Lu dragged Tang Song toward the school wall. Striding confidently along the wall, more confident than the discipline director, she would shout whenever she saw a student approaching, "Hey, that student, move away from the school wall! Otherwise, I'll consider it as you trying to climb the wall to skip class!"
