"Where are you from?" she asks.

"All over the place." the Captain responds looking out towards the sun.

"They all speak English." Rose states.

"No, you just hear English. It's a gift of the Tardis." the Doctor starts and lays on his side.

"Telepathic field, gets inside your brain, translates." the Captain explains further.

"It's inside MY brain?" Rose asks.

"Well, in a good way." he tries to make her feel better about it.

"Your machine gets inside my head? It gets inside and it changes my mind, and you didn't even ask?"

"We didn't think about it like that." the Doctor says.

"No, you were too busy thinking up cheap shots about the deep South! Who are YOU, then, Doctor, Captain? What're you called? What sort of alien's are you?" she exclaims.

"I'm just the Doctor." he says, the Captain getting up and walking down towards the window.

"From what planet?" Rose asks.

"Well, it's not as if you'd know where it is!" the Doctor shoots back.

"Where are you from?" she asks again.

"What's it matter?" the Captain says looking back towards the girl.

"Tell me who you are!" she says exasperatedly.

"THIS is who we are, right here, right now, all right? All that counts is here and now. And this is us." the doctor bursts out.

"Yes, and I'm here too, cos you brought me here. So just tell me!" she ushers back, the Doctor stands up and walks down towards the Captain.

"Earth-death in 20 minutes, Earth-death in 20 minutes." the voice says over the broadcasting system.

Rose gets up and walks towards the two men. "All right. As my mate Shareen says, don't argue with the designated driver. Can't exactly call for a taxi." she says in a slight apologetic manner. "No signal. We're out of range. Just a bit." she says holding out her phone trying to find a signal.

"Tell you what. With a little bit of jiggery-pokery..." the Captain says taking Rose's phone.

"Is that a technical term, jiggery-pockery?" Rose asks with a smile watching the man open her phone.

"Yes, we came first in jiggery-pokery. What about you?" he asks her still messing with her phone.

"Nah, I failed hullabaloo." she says.

"Aw." the Captain says putting a new battery into her phone "There you go." he says handing it back to Rose. She turns the phone on and sees it has a signal, she opens her contacts and finds her mum's contact and presses it, the phone starts ringing.

"Hello?" Jackie asks.

"Mum?" Rose says in disbelief looking over at the Captain who has a soft smile on his face.

"Oh, what is it? What's wrong, what have I done now? Ooh this red top's falling to bits! You should get your money back. Go on, there must be something. You never phone in the middle of the day... What's so funny?" Jackie says as Rose laughs.

"Nothing. You all right, though?" Rose asks her mum.

"Yeah, why wouldn't I be?" her mum asks.

"What day is it?"

"Wednesday all day. You got a hangover?" Jackie asks her daughter. "Ooh, I tell you what, put a quid in that lottery syndicate. I'll pay you back later." she says.
