Chapter 11

Meanwhile, Angelique was in the same area, trying to escape her angry mother.

She was sitting at a table across the hall from Dudley's as she looked out the window.

"If Mamon wants me to marry someone... it must be someone I love. A man I have always seen in my dreams" she said to herself.

She stood up as she envisioned her dream husband. "Someone handsome and kind and romantic... and a voice like an angel."

She started to dance around as her dream was carrying her away. "I have seen this man so many times... he must come to me."

Dudley heard her talking and looked over his shoulder to find Angelique singing about her dream.

I know you, the gleam in your eyes is so familiar a gleam

Yet I know it's true that visions are seldom all they seem

You'll love me at once

Dudley thought her singing was so lovely, he couldn't resist springing up and running towards her.

Angelique kept dancing and singing. She didn't notice Dudley's hands clasp hers.

Dudley: The way you did once upon a dream

Angelique heard his voice, turned around fast, and noticed the stranger behind her.

"Oh!" Angelique gasped.

Dudley awkwardly bowed his head. "Mademoiselle."

"You have such nerve sneaking up on a lady" said Angelique primly.

"Oh, I'm very sorry. But I did enjoy your singing. And I didn't mean to frighten you" said Dudley. 

"You did not frighten me. I am forbidden to speak to men I do not know" said Angelique.

"But we've met before" said Dudley.

Now Angelique was a little confused. "We have?" 

"Why, of course. You said so yourself. Once upon a dream" said Dudley.

Angelique turned her back as Dudley reprised her song.

Angelique turned back, realizing that Dudley had a nice voice and seemed to have a kind soul.

Hearing him sing made her give in and dance with him while finishing the song.
