That looked dangerous.

Laios stared the dragon down, taking in its enormous size and beautiful scales. "Now then. . .lets start our search" he said, scratching his freshly healed leg before approaching the belly of the red beast. Patting it down he hummed, recalling in his head the anatomy of dragons "The stomach should be around here" Taking out the mithril knife he pierced the skin, slowly slicing it through.

Marcille watched as the big lump of skin fell to the ground, softly grimacing "It's so thick. . ." she remarked, poking it with her staff. Laios nodded "That explains why we could barely pierce it even with a mithril knife" he sighed, wiping away the sweat from his forehead "Its going to be quite a job to cut through to the stomach"

"Should I try and use an explosion spell?" Marcille offered, raising her staff, but Laios simply shook his head "No, once we get to the innards, a dragon isnt much different from any other monster. We can just dig our way slowly through the flesh" the elf sighed, resigned to the fact that she will have to wait a little longer before getting Falin out.

Taking your cloak off (which strangely had remained intact during the entire commotion, shout out to Marcille's protection spell) you followed your leader inside, taking out Phlox and starting to dig up the squishy meat of the dragon. The more you made your way into its insides the more you couldn't help but feel how hot it was. Damn, it was like a furnace. I guess you shouldn't be so surprised, this dragon breath fire after all.

Cutting another portion something dark red and slimy appeared in your way "This should be the liver. . .that means the stomach must be close" mused Laios, cutting around it until finally you were able to find the long-awaited organ. Both Laios and Senshi gasped in delight "Look its the stomach!" yelled the blonde leader in excitement "Come on lets drag it out"

As everyone took a corner your party huffed, pulling the stomach out. You couldn't help but notice how heavy it was, making your hopes that Falin's body was still inside rise. To tell the truth it was more for Marcille and Laios then yourself. You don't think you could bare to witness their reaction if their friend was really dead. Once out Laios raised the mithril knife "Alright, time to open it up. . ." 

You stood aside, watching the blade piercing the organ as if it were paper. A repulsive smell rose into the air, causing you to cover your nose in disgust. Was the decomposition already starting? Laios took the edges of the ripped stomach, opening it more to let you guys peek what was inside. You leaned over his shoulder to look only to stiffened, a look of pure horror at the sight of absolutely nothing.

It was empty.

Dammit!

"Its empty. . ." Laios breath out in disbelief, eyes wide and voice trembling. The rest of the party was no better off, everyone faces were painted in a mix of horror, resignation and denial. "No. . ." whispered Marcille, slowing backing away until her back hit the wall behind. Her wide eyes pinned on the empty stomach, tears threatening to fall from them. "Maybe we got the wrong dragon?" she asked, hoping that was the case.

However Laios was quick to disagree with her statement "No, thats not possible. The scar above his eye is the same as the one on the dragon we fought before" he said bitterly "Plus male dragons are super territorial. It's unlikely there would be more of them in such small area" he sighed before approaching the dragon's body once again "Just to be sure, let's check the intestines too"

And so you did but like the stomach they too were empty. Not a trace of hair, clothes, objects. . .absolutely nothing. Marcille looked distraught, her eyes absent and her ears down "I don't believe it. . .There are not even bones" a quiet hiccup broke from her lips, small tears softly falling down her cheeks. All this hard work for nothing. . .
