Don't listen to them.

How, Kabru wondered as he watched the bodies of his companions make their way through the dungeon, how they could be acting like best friends all of a sudden if just a second ago they were biting each other's heads off. You were walking alongside Mithrun, following the passage of the cave you had recently found, talking animatedly with the gray-haired elf. Whether it was about your childhood, your profession as a knight, or the dungeon Kabru was not sure.
The Canaries captain simply nodded at your speech, offering few and rare words when you asked him a question. The blue-eyed boy had remained a bit behind, preferring to observe the new situation from afar while he tried in his mind to make sense of this new apparent friendliness. What had happened differently to make you put aside your differences and obvious opinions about the dungeon and its Lord?
All that had happened was that Kabru had finally managed to explain the truth of the dungeon and the demon to you. It had happened just as Mithrun had brought you back from the nightmare.

You were still disoriented from the abrupt awakening, a bitter taste was sitting on the tip of your tongue as you tried to remember what you had just dreamed, however the emptiness that continued to echo inside your mind almost made you doubt if you had dreamed at all. But both Kabru and Mithrun spoke of a nightmare that had haunted you for the entire night so you should be able to remember something.
"We need to talk?"
The two adventurers exchanged a look, the nightmares that had previously been inside your pillow simmering silently inside the pot. Then in his usual nonchalant manner, Mithrun opened his mouth. "I was a Dungeon Lord in the past," he spat out the information as if it were simple saliva. You stared at him with an almost dazed expression before letting your head fall to your side and muttering out a pathetic ". . .Uh?"
You felt like you had heard these words before.
Kabru promptly came to your rescue before Mithrun could begin his interminable version of the story. He was brief, just long enough for the nightmares to cook, but he didn't leave out any important details. Mithrun sometimes chimmed in with some useless information or one that made you do a double check to make sure he was being for real.
Finding out that he was the illegitimate child and not his younger brother would have certainly made for a perfect story during gossip parties but alas there was no time for that.
"Okay, long story short, the dungeon and all the monsters inside it are the fruit of this demon . . .who in turn serves the Dungeon Lord. But in reality it's in turn exploiting the Dungeon Lord's desires to then eventually eat them" you said, eyes narrowed at the plate of nightmares at your feet "And a person without desires ends up becoming like you" the casual tone that you carried with you wherever you went suddenly became darker. Your hand pointed to the captain of the Canaries, who, if before you thought of him as an edgy emo now your entire view of him had changed with a snap of your fingers.
Kabru glanced furtively at the elf beside him before nodding, "Exactly."

Kabru's daydream was promptly interrupted when his ears heard a cry containing your voice "The cistern!" you shouted excitedly, quickening your pace to exit the closed passage and into the enormous dwarven-built cistern "This is the same cistern that my party and I were teleported to before I was split up by them!" both Kabru and Mithrun quickened their pace to catch up with your figure.
