I walked to the apartment next door holding my laptop and knocked, yet again for the 3rd time this month.

He opened the door and smiled at me.

"Amara..."

"I know I'm sorry. I really don't know what I did this time. I was typing up my paper and then it just crashed." I said. My neighbor Jake Jensen took my laptop and walked into his apartment, I followed.

"Did you back it up?" Jake asked.

"I was saving periodically if that's what you mean..." I trailed off.

"Did you save before it crashed?" Jake asked and I nodded.

"Yeah, it was like I saved, typed 2 more words and it crashed." I said and he sighed.

"Alright, let me see what I can do." Jake said and I smiled at him.

"I really need to start paying you for this..." I trailed off. Jake just smiled.

"I told you I don't want to be paid Amara." Jake said.

"I know but I'm using you as my own IT guy." I said.

"It's what I am. Well, what I am now." Jake said. I just sat down beside him and watched him work.

"What you are now...you have been very secretive on what you did before." I said and Jake just half nodded as he worked.

"There's a reason for that." Jake said.

"Hey, I get it, people have pasts. I not one to judge whether you talk about it or not." I said.

"Well, I don't want to, nor can I talk about it."

"Ah...what were you a spy for the CIA or something?" I asked.

"Or something." Jake smirked at me, and I laughed.

Jake worked on my computer and as he was working it crashed again.

"Amara, you need a new computer." Jake said starting it up again.

"Yeah sure, I'll get right on that. I mean I guess I don't need to eat next few weeks..." I trailed off sarcastically.

"Or you could let me treat you to dinner..." Jake said, and I looked from the screen to Jake.

"Are you asking me out Jake Jensen?" I asked and he smiled.

"Maybe, only if you say yes." Jake smirked and went back to working.

"When would this dinner take place?" I asked.

"Whatever night you're free." Jake said and I smiled.

"I'm free Sunday..." I said and Jake smiled.

"Then it's a date. I can pick you up at 6?" Jake asked and I nodded.
