Chapter 55: Tranquart Heal, by Sebastian Sallow.
"'Cause if I could see your face once more, I could die a happy man, I'm sure." Kodaline
Ominis Gaunt was rooted on the spot. There was a mixture of shock, confusion, and questioning.
The blind man struggled to come to terms with the idea of a person somehow — impossibly, maybe, shockingly, returning from the dead?
No. Even implying the theory brought shivers down his spine. Perhaps from all the curses that ran through his Slytherin-Gaunt bloodline, he'll convince himself that it was a strut in his head. A delusion of hearing ghosts.
Ominis swallowed, but closely, the pale, dry lips trembled as he kept his head to the side. "Err—"
"Ominis?"
"Ah!" Ominis jumped forward with his glowing wand, taking a heavy breath from the presence inches away from his back.
He might've been so consumed by the baffling implication and impossibility of the reality that he didn't notice the body approach him from behind — like nothing.
Ominis clutched his wand, but in a sneaky action, he slowly pulled it forward, using nonverbal incantations to reassure that what he was witnessing was real.
Thud, thud, — heartbeat.
Sniff — familiar female scent.
Intrusively, his long hand extended, carefully, yet, curiously poking and touching the presence's face — it was silly, but it was real.
It was Penelope Silverthorn. Alive.
"Pen."
Penelope Silverthorn was in an empty, oblivious space since her awake. As she experienced the most dreadful sleep of darkness and longing echoes, she was afraid.
Nothing connected to her. Well, at the moment.
Penelope's eyes lost themselves on the printed blue ones, feeling fear in Ominis reaction — like seeing her right there on his reach was wrong.
"It's me?" Penelope said in a whisper and question.
Again, Ominis gasped lowly. It was unusual of him to react to so many emotions at once, but why did he have to be the one to witness this?
Between the silence and shock of the blonde man, Penelope began to gather her reality and looked around, noticing she was in the Hospital Wing before managing to look at her attire and insecurities.
"Uh," She lifted her weak hands, seeing stickers scars, and bandages on herself. Which was unusual since she couldn't recall how they got there.
