Notes: At this point... I almost can't apologize enough. I was planning on having this chapter out three weeks ago, but then stuff kept coming up, work... and I still didn't even get to where I wanted to end the chapter.

Thing is... I've gone and reworked where my story is going and had to change the trajectory. I have alot of things to say about my story at the end. for now... enjoy!

If anything she could've expected, having Enji ask about her bending was the last thing she could've expected, not sure how she should've responded at first. After glancing at Shoto, she saw he was just as surprised as she was, never telling him anything about her. She realized it was best to simply explain what she was, however, going over her truth with him and telling him the history of herself. Once she finished, Enji had a surprisingly calm expression on his face.

"So that is why it always seemed so unique," Enji said, sitting up seeing she was finished. "No wonder the commissioner was interested in you."

"Wait, you knew?" Shoto asked in surprise before frowning. "You knew she was being targeted?"

"Only after Mirko was already working with your school..." he answered with a disappointed look. "I was... distracted until you came by."

"That is an understatement," Katara added, shaking her head at the raised brow from the hero. "Funny thing is you could've known about this from the first day I was here. You went to get a coffee instead of listening."

Enji almost chuckled when thinking back to the night he met Katara, thinking this random girl's story was all some pathetic cover. He wondered how different everything could've been if he had just stayed and heard her out. "The president was certainly curious about you, although it seemed she couldn't get the support she wanted for her gain."

"And you won't help her..." Katara quietly said, seeing his gaze not changing. "Why?"

"Because you proved you are more than just some mysterious girl with a strange power to worry about," Enji solemnly said, "After everything that you've done and gone through, I don't need any concern about who you are or what your power is. All that matters is what you've chosen so far, so that is enough for me."

Shoto was certainly surprised to hear this coming from his father, taking a seat in one of the nearby chairs. "So the commission did attempt other angles to get at you," he said to Katara, "We were right in thinking they weren't going to sit quiet the entire time."

"And yet they didn't get the help they wanted, and seemingly gave up." Katara turned back to the number one hero. "Well, I will say thanks for not choosing to side with her. But does..."

Enji noticed her look to the side as he could hear Burnin coming back into the room, giving a nod. "She does... she just needed to make sure the others didn't show up for some time."

"Yeah, the more who know weird shit about you, the worse it could get for you." Burnin answered as she rejoined the trio. "Even though I've worked with them for years, Onima especially is pretty loose-lipped."

"And you never thought to ask me about myself despite knowing something was off?" Katara questioned.

"Hey, I didn't know until he talked not too long ago." Burnin admitted, pointing to her boss.

"Only because you are the one I trust the most here. And... it's not the only secret we've kept from the others..." he quietly said, the look he received from the teens making his chest tighten. "Until we are ready, the less people who know what you found out what you discovered at that mountain, the better for now."

Sighing, Shoto clenched his fists and looked back to his father. "Then you understand why we chose to come here over every other place. After everything that happened... you know we will see him again soon. And that means we will be ready to stop him next time he comes for us."
