Sora slid onto the bench beside you, handing you the bucket of popcorn. "I didn't miss it, right?"
You rolled your eyes, nodding to the arena. "Nope." Shoveling popcorn into your mouth you practically melted. It had been so long since you had popcorn. "Geo just got in. His opponent isn't out yet."
So far, nobody but Zane had gotten out. After Lloyd's match against Mr. Pale, only Cole and Sora had fought, both winning as well. Of course now the next day, Geo's match was at the brink of dawn. So you were running on pure caffeine and popcorn. Wonderful, right?
Your match was later in the day, there was 2 between your's and Geo's.
"Listen up, party people! Here comes the 10th match of the first round!" Roby started, zooming around on his hovering platform. "This is a Take-Down Match! First to tap out wins! Let's introduce you to the competitors!"
Geo walked forward from where he was getting a pep talk from Cole and Nya. He was nervously wringing his hands together, but his confidence grew as he continued to the center. He noticed you and Sora, waving with a large grin.
"He's the purple Munce with a power that'll save you in bunch, it's Geo! The Elemental Master of Fusion!"
Rising to your feet, you hollered for him, cheering alongside Sora.
"And his opponent: Strength is often found in numbers but for him, it's not. Get it? Not? Because it's Nokt! The Elemental Master of Brute Force!"
Shit.
Geo was a great fighter. But he couldn't go against Nokt. Especially in a strength based match. This seemed royally unfair. (You could say that, you were basically a princess. Basically. Not really.. Whatever.)
But regardless, Geo was set up for failure.
No materials to bond, no weapons to fight with. Nokt wouldn't even have to use ShatterSpin to win.
You felt sick to your stomach. Geo wasn't making it out of this unscathed.
"I'm going to go help Cole." You announced to Sora, standing up.
She frowned, grabbing your arm. "What?"
Biting the inside of your cheek, you shook your head. "We need to get Geo out of this match, he has to forfeit. He's not making it out win or lose without wounds."
Reluctantly nodding, she sat back down, her knee bobbing up and down now.
You hurried down the steps of the bleachers, turning the corner.
Only to be met with a dagger to the face. Ras. "Sit back down." He growled slowly.
Brows knitting together, you made no move. "He's going to get hurt. Nokt will win regardless." You argued.
Ras' brow flicked up, mock intrigue filling his face. "You don't need to help him. Sit. back. down."
Tightening your fist, you took a sharp breath. "You can't attack me. You're not an Elemental Master. And- we're not in a match."
"That is true. But with all the security focused on the match, I'm sure they have no mind for what happens in the shadows. I just want this competition to go down how it should, understood?"
Staring at the blade crosseyed, you peered back up at the kitty cat. "I'm going to go grab medical supplies for him. I won't suggest he forfeits." You offered, hands shaking with barely contained power. Just act calm. You had to keep calm.
Ras snorted, shaking his head. "Right. I'll know if you do." He paused, sticking the dagger back into his belt. "Oh, and check on your student for me, yes? I hope he isn't in pain right now.."
