Chapter 23: Truth or Illusion

Elle just came out of her class. She was scrolling down  the messages on her iPhone

when she caught a glimpse of a familiar figure who was intensely looking at something

in the bulletin board.

She was caught off-guard. Her knees felt weak and she's unable to walk anymore

further. She took a deep breath to calm herself. It can't be him... he graduated a long

time ago. She took the next exit that leads to the parking lot.

Once inside her car, Elle closed her eyes and went back to the scene in the hallway.

"Why did I ran away? I should have went to that guy and see for myself instead of

feeling like this! Damn it!"

"It can't be him. What's he doing at Wyerson if that was him?"

She needs to run errands but decided just to go back to the condo.

She tried to keep herself busy but her mind kept drifting back to that scene at school.

Kerr was intensely looking at a familiar signature in one of the students' photography; one from  a

 long time ago. The signature looked so eerily similar to hers.

" Is it possible that she came back and is a student here now?"

 Kerr can't wait to start digging up about this discovery. After his meeting with the Dean for higher 

studies, he hurriedly went home.

Chapter 24: I Lost You in the Wind

He searched for her in Google but nothing came out under Elle Gutierez. But then she realized that her

 full name is Janelle Gutierrez. On the screen from the FB of a volunteer organization, popped out 

numerous photos of volunteers while at work...

And here she is after 3 years of nothingness. He zoomed the photo to get a clearer visual.

She did not change at all...but prettier. He feasted on her face, eyes, lips, nose...She has this certain

 aura that's hard to describe...happiness? She now wears prosthetics, too... a long hair framed her

 pretty face. Kerr cannot contain the happiness that he feels for Elle. To see her as happy as this after 

her accident is something that he wished for three years. With this information, he was able to see 

other exhibits that she did to raise money in Wyerson for amputees like her. She has several artworks 

that were auctioned for her fellow amputees. He also observed that her paintings have also matured

 in terms of her strokes, colour, and themes. But then, there is someone whose arm was around her 

shoulders.

NO, it can't be...

It can't be...

Donnelly?!!!!!!!!!!!!

How did they know each other?

Then Kerr remembered the invitation "so I can introduce you to my girlfriend." His heart sank and his 

chest tightened. So this is how it feels to wait for something you really wish and hope for in your life...

 only to find out that there's already someone else in her life. Same feeling that Elle could have felt 

when she saw him and Carrie kissing at the festival.

He felt dying in that second.

He reminded himself that her happiness is the most important factor for him now after they broke up

 and Elle left the country. The photos tell him that she is happy with her life and he should be happy 

for her, despite the truth that the new man in his life is his buddy  Donelley. It hurts him to see them 

together  but didn't  she get hurt  in the process of loving him, too years ago?

He met Donnelly on the year that Elle broke up with him. They took the same electives and just 

became the best buddies in life after the term ended. They lost their communication when he went to

 Africa.

He decided that when he is ready, he will see her for the last time. And after that he will go back to

 Africa.
