Chapter 41: Near Death
A man can be seen running away with what appears to be a bloodied body on his shoulder. His legs are sturdy and can withstand the mangled
debris as he ordered his legs to run faster as they can, away from the chaos and the group of armed men that just entered the village. The man
hollered with pain as he cast his last glimpse on the remains of what used to be a village where the children and their families gathered every morning.
The man, a Kingali, took him to his own village, further away from the explosion.
The village elders immediately started the fire that will boil different kinds of barks, roots, and leaves their ancestors have used to treat wounds.
His life depends on the skills of the village "doctors" whose knowledge and practices where shaped by beliefs and traditions that were handed
down from generation to generation. They also performed rituals like dances and songs to ask the spirit world for mercy so that this man can be
saved from death, this man who helped to build the first school and hospital that greatly improved their nomadic style of living.
