Chapter 43: The Aftermath
The UN peacekeepers and the Red Cross came days after the attack. They evacuated the survivors to a safe zone while the deceased were
taken to the morgue. There was so much chaos and destruction in the village. Blood was everywhere and the stench of burned and
decomposing flesh hangs in the air. Bodies and body parts littered the ground... natives and foreigners alike. This time, they are all equal. They
are all victims of violence.
When Allison and Donnelly's wedding came, the celebration was subdued due to what happened in Africa. Elle cannot contain her sadness
and grief for Kerr. But she mustered a brave face when she bid the newly wed goodbye for fear that Allison will stay behind to comfort her. She
promised herself that she will not let that happen and never be a burden to anyone especially to Allison.
Suspended in time, the spirit was watching Elle wipe away her tears as she begun the long arduous act of packing.
