Chapter 42: Engineer
The village men carefully lowered the rescued man to the bowels of a wide, dry well on a makeshift bed. Using the same access, they climbed up
the well and covered its mouth with large leaves to conceal the presence of the wounded man. Enough not to be noticed but not too much so he
can have a ray of sunshine while recuperating.
On his third day in the village, a group of armed men came asking questions. They looked around until they were satisfied that no one has
infiltrated this Kingali tribe. The man who was rescued still remained unconscious, in the bottom of the well.
