"Ew, Lily, seriously remind me why we are going to this again?" I groaned as we entered Professor Slughorn's office near the potions classroom in the dungeons. There was no way this meeting was going to be better than quidditch tryouts... And even that would have been exhausting!

"It will be fun! And if it's not... I'll go to your first match against Slytherin!" Lily offered and I rolled my eyes.

"You would've went anyways."

"Not true! Usually, I would love to see Potter hit by a bludger... But with you as beater, I know you would never let anything get to him... Such a shame, really... There's no point in me going now."

"Welcome ladies, welcome! We were just waiting for you two! Come in, come in!" Slughorn greeted as he tottered over to the door and waved his arm around the room. Everything looked elaborate and expensive, right down to the crystal glasses on the table. I felt like if I even breathed on one of the mahogany chairs I would tarnish it or something.

Everyone looked up from the long, rectangular table and stopped their quiet chatting to watch us step into the room. A few of them muttered to their neighbors while sneering at us, like it was most disgraceful to come on time. Well sorry! I didn't get the memo we had to come early too!

"It smells like socialization, I don't like it." I whispered to Lily as Slughorn continued to exuberantly ushered us inside, earning us a few more odd looks and glares. Of course, we were the only Gryffindors there... The majority was Slytherin with a couple Ravenclaws... But no one from Hufflepuff.

"Well, there are two empty seats over there next to miss Spies. Why don't you take a seat over there?" Slughorn suggested and pointed towards the evil queen herself. Just looking at her smug sneer on her ruby lips made my blood boil. Lily immediately saw a fight brewing and started for the chair right next to Spies. But I cut her off and sat next to Spies, not giving her the satisfaction of scaring me off.

"Well if it isn't Stryker... I thought you had to go to tryouts... Considering anyone could easily replace you..." Spies glowered, starting to poke at me. Keeping my level head, I grabbed one of the crystal glasses and filled it with pumpkin juice. Slughorn asked every how their day was but I couldn't pay attention with Spies breathing down my neck... Just ignore her Lexi...

"I mean, what has it been... The last three years Gryffindor lost to our team? I seem to remember you being a little wuss in the hospital wing last year..." Spies continued. Suddenly, the silk tablecloth seemed extremely interesting as I tried to keep my cool. "You gonna chicken out again this year?"

"Ster... Leave her alone..." Avery, the red headed Slytherin in our year warned, trying to stop Spies. But she just pressed on, ignoring her friend.

"And Evans here... The little nerd! Severus talks highly of you... Honestly, I don't know what he sees..."

My knuckles started turning white as I held on tightly to my glass, imagining it was Spies' neck. It's one thing to insult me, but once you bring Lily into it...

"Honestly, I thought Slughorn would have better taste than to ask a bitch like you and a mudblood like her." Spies snarled, finishing her insults. The glass I was holding shattered in my tense grip with a loud crack, sending a wave of silence across the room.

"What did you call her?!" I growled, focusing on the fact that she horrendously insulted Lily rather than myself.

"You heard me." Spies breathed, glowering at me, just daring me to make the first move. Unknowingly, the glass I shattered in my hand made a deep cut and blood was starting to trickle through my fingers, mixing with the orange spill of pumpkin juice as I clutched the shards tight.
