Chapter 55

*Hotch's P.O.V. **

"Hey buddy, how are you?" I asked as Jack's face appeared on the screen in front of me

Jack had been serving in the US Army overseas in Iran for the last 2 years. I could only speak to him once a month over skype and sometimes we sent the occasional written letter. It was hard not having him around but he loved what he was doing and he had made a life for himself.

"I'm great dad! Congratulations to you and Darce! I'm so happy for you both, sorry I couldn't get home for it" Jack smiled as the screen flickered

"Thanks son, I'm sorry you couldn't be there too! It was only a small affair though, so you didn't miss much" I reassured him

"Where is Darce, by the way?" Jack asked as he searched the screen for signs of Darcy

"Oh she's still in bed" I scoffed "rough night" I gave a cheeky grin

"Woah Dad, way too much information right there!" Jack chuckled

"Jack I was speaking about her excessive in-take of alcohol" I lied jokingly

"Yeahhh, right" he scoffed "how is she?" he smiled thoughtfully

"She's great!" I nodded

"Of course she is! She's a Hotchner now" Jack joked

"True, true" I laughed "She's actually gone back to college now! She's studying to be a civil rights attorney, she's almost finished her first year!" I grinned proudly

"That's awesome dad! She'll be amazing" Jack also returned a proud look

Ever since Darcy and I met all those years ago, Jack has looked up to her and loved her from day 1! She was the first female figure in his life after Hayley died and she cared for Jack like he was her own. Ever since then he has cared a lot about her. I was lucky to have her and so was he, and he knew it.

** Darcy's P.O.V. **

I woke with a sore head but I smiled as I remembered yesterday and last night. I was now starting the rest of my life as, second time round, a married woman. And I could not wait! I turned in the bed to feel an empty space beside me. I frowned as I tuned full to see where Hotch was, don't tell me he had to go to work! We just got married for god sake! As I lifted my head from the pillow I heard the sounds from the living room. It was Hotch's voice.

I sighed contently as I swung my legs over the bed and threw on his oversized white shirt to see what was going on. When I reached the door of the living room I could hear another familiar voice. Jack! He must have gotten extra time to skype!

Jack is Aaron's whole world and I knew it was hard for him yesterday without his son by his side. Jack, over the years, had also become very close to my heart, even when things were rough between Aaron and I before I left those years ago, Jack and I would still go on our days out and he always knew how to make my day that little bit brighter. He is a great kid and he has made us both extremely proud.

I opened the door quietly into the living room and wrapped my arms around Aaron's shoulders as he turned to give me a kiss.

"Good morning Mrs Hotchner" He smiled

"Not in front of the kid Aaron" I laughed

"Hey Jack, how are you buddy?" I asked as I sat in beside Aaron

"I'm great! You look very much alive this morning Darce, or should I say mom" Jack joked

"I'm perfectly NOT hungover" I grinned jokingly "oh gosh Jack, It's hard enough being a wife for the second time but you're gonna make me a mom for the second time too!" I joked

"You'll are an amazing wife" Hotch turned to lovingly

"It's our first day Aaron, just you wait" I stuck my tongue out childishly as we both laughed

"Ok love birds, I've gotta go now! I love you both so much, I'll see you guys soon ok?" Jack said as he blew us a kiss

"By buddy, see you soon" Hotch said as the screen finally went blank and he hung his head and sighed

I stood up and walked behind him as I started rubbing his shoulders

"I know it's not easy baby, but Jack's a smart kid with a good head on his shoulders, he has learned from the best" I kissed his cheek reassuringly

"I know, I know" Hotch sighed

"You know all he ever wanted to be was a hero like his dad" I whispered close to his ear

"And a fighter like his step mom" he whispered back to me

We both smiled as he pulled me in for another kiss.
