Zodiac had launched his ultimate attack. A sphere of such sheer size it threatened to engulf the whole world. The force of it was so strong the buildings simply crumbled away and blew into the wind. Shadow stood ready and looked at the girls “Ariana…Kimbra. I no longer have the strength by myself to keep going” he looked back up at the planet sphere “so…can you do me this last favour…and lend me your strength” they nodded in determination
“we’re with you all the way” said Ariana gripping his arm
“I’ll give you so much power you’ll burst” Shadow smiled and then focused. His rainbow aura intensified and with help from the girls put his arms together. A sphere of blue began to form in-front of his hands reaching the size of a football which he aimed at the sphere. Then with an effort a large of beam burst out of the sphere hit the sphere.
His blue beam dwarfed the giant energy sphere but managed to hold it off. Shadow could feel himself slipping, his body no longer able to take the strain of the attack but behind him was Kimbra and Ariana frantically pushing him keeping him still. Shadow could feel himself pushing backwards as the sphere continued to make its way towards him as he struggled with his beam “dam…come on” the sphere was drawing closer still “at…this rate…ahhh” Kimbra was starting to lose her footing but then she felt a hand on her back. She turned round and saw Kitsune, transparent, with a smiling face holding her still
“Ma-Ma” called Kimbra and then Ariana felt a hand on her back
“Sophia!” Sophia smiled as she pushed against Ariana while Shadow felt a familiar touch to his
“Luxe” said Shadow peering backwards seeing her smile but then to his surprise every-one of his friends moved on or not there, appeared behind him forming a triangle formation with him at the front “everyone is here”
Zodiac noticed this too “what’s going on? They are supposed to be gone “ and then to Shadow’s surprise he felt a familiar touch to his shoulder
“Sinister” Sinister gave a thumbs-up
“Shadow…” said Ariana “everyone’s here…to lend you their strength” Shadow looked shocked as all his, transparent, friends nodded
“Mister Shadow” said Kimbra “let’s show this meanie what power really is” as Shadow nodded he felt a touch to his other shoulder which drew his attention to someone unlikely
“now you I won’t expecting” he saw Neo holding his other shoulder “what made you change your mind?” he shrugged his shoulders “I see…well I’d give you a fist bump or something but I’m a bit pre-occupied” Neo gave a small smile “alright everyone tend to end this” everyone nodded and all pushed against everyone’s backs as Shadow faced Zodiac “Zodiac…the future…is uncertain but…you can’t control it. That’s why…” his aura intensified like an eruption
“WE’LL FORGE” the voices or everyone spoke at once “OUR OWN FUTURE”
Shadow’s beam suddenly erupted in size and power pushing back against the sphere. The sphere eventually came to a stop to which Zodiac noticed “It can’t be true” the sphere then began to visibly have cracks running along it all leaking blue light “this is the power…of his ideal” the sphere continued to crack “with the beliefs of his friends” the sphere shattered while Shadow’s beam carried through “standing with me. I yield…to your ideal” the beam engulfed Zodiac firing off in the dim sky.
As the beam finished Zodiac simply fell limply to the ground with a mild crash while Shadow fell to his knees panting. His wings vanished and his aura dissipated. Ariana then spoke “did…did we do it?” Ariana turned to Shadow and their transparent friends to which we all nodded
“yes we did it” shouted Kimbra in delight. Shadow looked at Zodiac, he had reverted back to his human form and stirred slightly on the ground.
“you two…can you help me to Zodiac?” the two nodded and each took an arm then with great effort they tried to lift Shadow but then they found Luxe, still transparent, helping them lift him up.
With the three of them helping him Shadow walked to Zodiac who turned towards him “so…your ideal truly was the strong one” Shadow stopped in-front of Zodiac and went to his knees “it seems…mine was the weak one after all”
“it was…the convictions behind my ideal which helped me win”
“maybe be it was” said Zodiac “answer me this. What are the meaning by our words?” You said…without these friends of yours you wouldn’t have a future”
“Twice…I fell into the pit of despair. A place so dark and cold…it was a nightmare. But…it was thanks to Ariana…and Luxe” Luxe gave a radiant smile “who shined the light to bring me back. The second time…was due to pain of loss. When I witnessed Max and Circuit leave…I lost all hope that I once had but” he turned to Kimbra and rubbed her head “this little one reminded me what it means to keep going” he looked back at Zodiac “that’s what I meant. Without the guiding hands of these three girls” Shadow turned to everyone-else “and everyone else…I wouldn’t be able to enjoy the present…and move onto the future”
Zodiac looked up to the dim sky “so…that’s what makes you so strong. You fought on the behalf of everyone…not yourself. I don’t regret what I did but…if I could go back to the past…I’d do it differently. I see it now…you can’t cause pain to erase pain…thank you” Shadow smiled “I will place my hopes on you, just as everyone else has done” Zodiac turned to Ariana “young one…take the orb from my coat” Ariana nodded and took the egg from his inside pocket “here is my belief to you” Shadow took the orb “in your hands you carry the dreams of everyone from past, present and future…make your wish. And guide us into the new world”
Shadow looked between everyone and closed his eyes “I wish…for us all…to go back to our home…in the past…where we may live out our lives in peace” as he said it the orb hovered in the air glowing a sparkling white. Shadow then looked behind to see his friends slowly disappear from sight. Everyone all gave last minutes smiles and gestures as they slowly vanished from the world. Shadow looked at Kimbra “Kimbra…go on…be with your mother” Kimbra gave Shadow a kiss on the cheek and ran over to Kitsune. Kitsune embraced Kimbra and both of them waved as they too left. Shadow’s close friends all with smiles and waves bid him goodbye leaving only four. Ariana was next to glow
“Shadow…” Shadow gave her a reassuringly smile
“I won’t be long…I just need a minute” he rubbed her on the head “now go on…and wait for me” she beamed a radiant smile as she vanished from the world too.
Zodiac looked up at the orb and saw the gentle light “it’s so…warm…like the sun. I can feel it and…remember it” a tear ran down his cheek as he began to vanish “Shadow…thank you” now only Shadow and Luxe were left. Shadow and Luxe both began to glow
“so…this is the end” she smiled “we can now go home…to be happy” Luxe gestured forward her index and middle finger together
“let’s make a promise” said Luxe “that we’ll meet again…in the present” Shadow joined her fingers with his own before them both going into a hug “I’ll be waiting for you” Luxe than vanished too leaving Shadow alone. Shadow’s body began to disappear but then felt a light of a different kind light up in the dim world. In the distance he saw something incredible…the morning sun
“what a way to end it. Even in this dead world…life continues to fight on. We’ll make sure…this future doesn’t become a dead one” and with that Shadow left the world behind…to be where he belongs.
