My Brothers Best Friend

Chapter 12 - The Visit

I drop my luggage on the floor of a hallway full of memories. I knock on the door of my brothers bedroom, there's movement on the other side of the door. I grow tired of waiting, "Aidan, stop screwing your mate and answer the damn door" I yell, knocking on the door again - harder. Caleb chuckles and the door swings open, Aidan looks pissed but his face lightens when he sees me. He stands in his boxers,
"Cora! I wasn't expecting you so soon" he says.
"No shit, obviously" I retort, Caleb snickers.
"Did I interrupt something?" I question sarcastically.
"Nothing he can't make up for later" Kelsey says smacking Aidan's ass, leaving to shower.
"Heat?" I question.
"Oh yeah." He grins.
"So I just came to tell you we're here and we'll be in our room"
"I had some maids make up your old room for you and for Caleb the guest room down the hall far away from Cora, but before you leave where's my hug?" Aidan leans forward to hug me, I lean away from him. He raises a questioning eyebrow, I look past him and into his room,
"take a shower first"
"Oh I definitely will" he looks towards the bathroom.
"You're disgusting"
"Have fun" Caleb yells winking at his best friend. Aidan shuts the door and Caleb and I walk towards our seperate rooms. I enter mine and get settled in. There's a lot of memories in this room. I speak my thoughts out loud to Caleb who appeared in the doorway.
"Like what?" Caleb asks sitting down on my old bed next to me.
"A lot of firsts, a lot of laughs and a lot tears" I chuckle to myself at all the memories,
"see that burn mark" I point to a small circular burn mark on my carpet, about the size of the nail on my pinkie finger, under the window.
"Yes" Caleb replies.
"That's from my rebellious stage when I snuck cigarettes into my room with my friend and my brother came in and I tried to put it out and that happened" he laughs. I'm sure Aidan reacted well to that"
"Surprisingly, he just kind of yelled at me for a bit but understood"
"Understood what?"
"Why I was having a little rebellion phase"
"And why was that?"
"You, it was just after I turned 16" he rubs the back of his neck,
"don't worry about it, oh and you see that" I point to a faded stain on the carpet leading out from the bathroom, "that was when I tried to dye my hair, after my brother told me I couldn't, I wanted to see if my wolf would change colour, but Kelsey caught me in the act and made me wash it out before it dyed, sadly"
"What colour?"
"Pink"
"Pink. You wanted a pink wolf"
"Yeah" we laugh.
"It wouldn't of changed it, unless you dye it in wolf form"
"Well, there goes my childhood dream of having a pink wolf" we laugh again. "Maybe, we should make some new memories" he cups my face with one hand and kisses me, slowly we lay down, he straddles me,
"you want to mate me in my old teenage bedroom, in my brother's pack" I ask,
"aren't you the best friend ever" I continue sarcastically.
"Well when you put it like that" we laugh and continue to make out. A cough from the doorway interrupts us, we stop kissing to look at the intruder, of course it had to be Aidan.
"This is not what it looks like" Caleb says. You can practically see the anger radiating off my brother,
"get off her!" He yells abruptly, I push Caleb off me and he hits the floor with a thud. I stand up and try to fix my messed up hair in the mirror.
"Ever heard of the privacy?" Caleb asks, Aidan snorts,
"shut the door next time" he says.
"Now I'll take that hug" I say walking towards my brother open armed, he takes a step back,
"take a shower first" he mimics and laughs, I slap his arm and hug him. "How have you been lil sis?" He asks rustling my hair.
"Good. Sorry about the no warning on the pack switch" I reply.
"Don't worry about it, I was expecting it to happen sooner or later" I share a small smile with him.
"Caleb, my man" he says hugging Caleb while they slap each others backs. "Aidan, wassup man" Caleb greets. "Caleb, like your room?" Aidan smirks. "You're a bastard man" Aidan put Caleb in the closest yet furthest away room from mine.
"Just because he has a room doesn't mean he'll be sleeping in it" I add in, biting my lip and smirking at Caleb. Caleb and I haven't really gotten to the stage of sharing a room yet, but lately he has been falling asleep in my room with me or sometimes vise versa.
"You two were so busy making out that you forgot about your niece and nephew Cora" Oh my God how could I forget them.
"I didn't forget about them" I lie. Aidan gives me a look that says, 'sure you didn't',
"I got distracted okay" I argue. He laughs,
"follow me" I follow him into the pack living room, Henry is watching cartoons, his eyes glued to the TV and baby Cora is being fed by Kelsey. "Henry, Aunt Cora's here" Aidan says, Henry turns to face me, excitement written on his face, he runs towards me and hugs my legs. I pick him up and give him a big bear hug and place him back on the ground. He looks up at me with big hazel eyes, he's beginning to look more and more like Aidan,
"Aunt Cora, why haven't you been living with us? Daddy says that you found your mate and live with him now. Did he take you away?" He frowns towards Caleb. I kneel down so I am close to his height,
"Henry, Daddy's telling you the truth, I did find my mate and I chose to live with him, he didn't take me away. You'll understand one day, when you find your mate" I answer bopping his nose.
"What's a mate?" How am I going to explain this to a 3 and a half year old.
"A mate is the most special person in the world, your other half and they will love you forever and ever. They are the person you will spend the rest of your life with, they are the person you'll marry and have pups with. A mate is a person you won't be able to live without once you find them"
"When will I find my mate?"
"I don't know, some people find them when they shift for the first time, some wait years to find their mate and others only a few years"
"How do I know?"
"Your wolf tells you"
"When do I get a wolf?"
"When you shift for the first time, so when you turn 16"
"So, mummy and daddy are mates?"
"Yes, and do you want to meet mine?" He nods, I pick him up.
"Henry this is Alpha Caleb my mate"
"Hello Alpha Caleb"
"Hi" Caleb says shaking Henry's little hand,
"just call me Caleb, okay buddy"
"If he's an Alpha, does that make you the Luna Aunt Cora?" Henry asks.
"Eventually, yes"
"Why not now?"
"Because he has to mate me first"
"What's that?" I look towards Aidan, "okay that's enough fun facts for one day" Aidan says taking Henry from my arms, giving me an annoyed look, Kelsey laughs at her little pup.
