Chapter 23 - Home Sweet Home

Cora's P.O.V

Vaughn walks away from my beaten up form. Blood pours out of my nose and from my lip and eyebrow where the skin split upon impact of Vaughn's fist. I feel Caleb's anxiety hit red zone. I miss him so much, I yearn to feel his soft touch and delicate kiss. Rescue me soon my knight in shining armor.

A bright light blinds me. Aidan's pack fighters break into Vaughn's not-so-secret, hide out. Down goes the enemy at the hand of Aidan's pack fighters. I stare at the man un-tieing me, trying to make out a face, but the brightness of the sun makes it difficult as I haven't seen the sun in a couple of days. I make out the person by the sound of their voice. Jace unties me and picks me up in a cradle, one of his arms supporting my back, my legs drapped over the other arm, I am a rag doll in his arms. "Where's Caleb?" I croak, my voice raspy and barely existent from my lack of water and constant screams of pain. "He'll be here soon, he's trying to bargain your freedom, this is plan (b), rest now. Your safe" Jace replies. He carries me out and back to Aidan's pack, back to safety, back to my mate.

Caleb's P.O.V

I push my way through the hospital to me mate. She sits on a hospital bed, she looks exhausted and weary, yet so beautiful.
"Cora!" I yell continuing to push through the crowd of growing pack members.
"Caleb!" She yells back, her voice barely recognizable. We run to each other, I envelope her in my arms, hugging her tightly. I pull away so I can see her face, I cup her face with both hands and press our lips together, her kiss is like a drug I've been starved of.
After a while we stop kissing, both of us breathless.
"I love you so much, I missed you" she says hugging me tightly. She spots her brother and runs to him, hugging him, Kelsey cries as they hug. Little Henry runs up to her and gives her a hug. I wrap a protective arm around Cora, I'm never going to let her out of my sight ever again.

Cora's P.O.V

I stay close to Caleb's side, his arm not leaving me. A faint feeling overwhelms me, I fall slightly. Caleb catches me. Still in the hospital he takes me to a doctor. I am rushed to a bed. The doctor starts inspecting my wounds, she holds a stethoscope to my stomach and listens.
"You're pregnant yes?" The doctor asks. I look nervously at Caleb.
"Yes" he answers for me.
"Well the good news is that the baby is alright, but you have a concussion. You're going to have to stay here over night for observation"
"Can I be transferred to my pack hospital?" I ask.
"It would be best if you stayed here but it is possible" Caleb gives me a brief nod letting me know he is okay with me being transferred. The doctor leaves, I give Kelsey and Aidan a look saying, 'get out'  They take the hint and leave. I lay back on the hospital bed, one hand on my stomach the other interlaced with Caleb's hand.
"I was going to tell you about the baby" I say.
"I know, Aidan told me everything" he replies rubbing his thumb in a circular motion on my hand then gently pressing a kiss to my bruised knuckles. "I promise I was going to tell you, I was just scared" Tears roll down my face. I'm not sure why I'm crying, maybe it's because I finally get to see my mate, maybe its because everything hurts, maybe hormones from the pregnancy, maybe a mixture of everything.
"I know, I know. But everything will be alright, 19 going on 20 may be young to humans but not in the werewolf community it's normal to have children young and even then 20 isn't that young"
"I can't even legally drink"
"Then alcohol won't be a temptation" I laugh the tears away.
"Are you ready to go home?" The nurse asks coming into the room. I nod,
"I'll get you a wheel chair" she says. "No need" Caleb replies. He sweeps me up in his arms. I squeal and encircle my arms around his neck.
"Follow me" the nurse says amused. Aidan's pack members stare at us. I bury my face into his chest, blushing. "What a way to go out" Aidan says walking beside us. I hide my face even more.
"Bye little sis" he says kissing the top of my forehead.
"Bye big bro" I say my voice muffled by Caleb's shirt. He places me in the car and drives home.

I stay over night in my pack hospital for observation. By the next day I am discharged. Caleb and I decide to make the announcement about the baby to whole pack. We call a pack meeting.
I stand nervously on the outside stage. Pack members flood into the meeting area. Caleb stands patiently at the lectern. 'I can feel your nervous, just try and calm down. I'll do all the talking, you just stand there and look pretty like always. Don't worry about the pack, they'll be expecting this type of news, they don't care how old or young you are', Caleb mind links me. He extends his hand and I take it, our mate bond calming me. 'I can't wait to have a mini me running around'  he links. 'How do you know it won't be a girl?' I retort. 'All Alpha first borns are always boys, to continue on the bloodline'
'How come Kelsey was left to be Alpha?'
'Her parents and two older brothers were killed by a previous pack member gone rogue who tried to take over her pack but over looked and forgot about Kelsey'

Caleb holds a hand up silencing everyone.
"The Luna and I have some news to tell you all" Caleb begins, the crowd talks among themselves briefly before silencing again.
"In three and a half months time, your Luna and my darling mate will be giving birth to the next future Alpha of this pack" The crowd is an uproar or cheers, gasps and claps. 'Told you they would be happy'  Caleb mind links. I smile and hug him. Caleb though has other ideas, he smashes our lips together, I try to pull away but he holds our heads close together, I have no choice but to kiss him. The crowd claps, cheers and awes.
"I love you" he whispers into my cheek before kissing it. We finally pull away, Caleb smirks and I shake my head at him. That loveable idiot.
