Chapter 27 - Naughty Little Girls

A howl rings throughout the forest, everything goes silent. The birds stop chirping, the wind stops blowing everything still and silent. The call of my mate silencing all.
Cora's wolf strides into the clearing in which I lay contemplating about how to forgive myself and make her forgive me.
I stand up and let her wolf come to me, she is weary at first but cannot resist my inviting out stretched hand. I pat her soft fur in between her ears and under her chin. Cora's wolf nuzzles into me, I press a kiss onto her wet nose. She responds with a sloppy lick, I chuckle and continue to stroke her. The hair around her mouth is covered in animal blood. Looks like Aidan couldn't get her to eat so her wolf took control in order to save our child.
Cora's wolf whines and begins to shift back into human form. Her human body lays unconscious and naked. I pull my shirt off in one swift motion and cover my mates naked body. I lift her up into my arms, supporting her back with one hand and an arm under her legs. I carry her back to our room, her body heavier from her 2 month pregnant belly. Cora begins to wake up as I near our room. I lay her down on our bed.
"I'm sorry baby" I say placing a kiss on her forehead. In a sleepy haze Cora replies,
"I know"
Cora begins to wake up more. I sit on the edge of the bed next to her. She wakes up startled and panicked.
"What happened, last thing I know I was crying and then my wolf took over and now and now" she says clearly freaked out.
"It's okay, I'm here. Your wolf just took control because you weren't looking after our pup"
Cora looks at me with the saddest eyes.
"I'm sorry" she cries,
"I almost killed our child" I cup her face.
"Baby don't be sorry, I should be the one who's sorry. I-I h-"
"Shh" She holds her index finger to my lips not wanting to here the word either. Her touch sends sparks throughout my body.
"Cora, I promised to always protect you and instead of protecting you I hurt you, not just emotionally but physically and I'm so sorry. Cora River-Rhyes, you are my mate and mother of our child, I love you and I never meant to hurt you. Will you please try to forgive me?"
Her tears now cease to exist an are replaced with a small, heart warmed smile.
"Yes you loveable idiot, yes" she presses her lips to mine, oh how I've missed her lips, her addicting lips.
"I love you" I say pulling away.
"Shut up and kiss me" she says pulling me back.

I stalk around the pack house looking for my Delta and third in command - Jarod. This is the second time he hasn't replied to my mind messages when I've called. Where could he be?
Lately he's been disappearing for hours on end with no one knowing where's he's been going. This has been happening to, to many of my high ranked pack fighters, all of them male and un-mated. But Jarod's disappearances are concerning and irritating me the most. He is the Delta of this pack, he must come when called and attend to his duties, not disappear and do God knows what!
Just as I am about to give up my search and begin looking for a new third in command, Jarod walks out of Delilah's room. He freezes when he sees me and heads in another direction.
"Jarod!" I yell using my Alpha tone, "where have you been?"
"Sorry Caleb, I've been busy" he replies stopping to talk to me.
"You will call me Alpha and what business has been withholding you from me?"
"Personal business Alpha"
Personal business does not come before the pack! Jarod may have only just taken the position of Delta but his disrespect and tardiness will not be tolerated. Why can't he be more like his father.
"What type of personal business? Are you sick or dying?" I ask loosing my patients with him.
"No-" he begins.
"Is a person in your family sick or dying?"
"No-"
"Did you find your mate?" I ask, my voice getting louder and angry per sentence.
"No-"
"Was there an emergency?"
"No-"
"Then why did you ignore my mind messages?!"
"I was with Delilah Alpha"
"Delilah?" I say.
"Yes Alpha" he replies frightened.
"Is she your mate?" My voice deadly quiet.
"No Alpha"
"Please tell me you aren't sleeping with her" I say pinching the bridge of my nose.
"Sorry" he replies ashamed of himself.
I should of known Delilah was behind this, that skank could never keep her hands to herself. I may have loved her once, forgiven her for her mistakes but now this! She's going after my pack members, I bet she's the one snatching away my pack fighters, subduing them like a mermaid with her siren song. I'll have her for this!
"Jarod, you're only young so I expect mistakes like this to happen. But please make sure this doesn't happen again" I say.
"Yes Alpha, of course Alpha, I promise it won't happen again. I'm sorry Alpha" he replies breathing a sigh of relief.
"Is Delilah inside?" I ask.
"Yes Alpha"
"Thank you. You are dismissed"
He nods his head in submission and hastily walks away.
I knock on the door to Delilah's room. She opens the door, dressed in a silk dressing gown, her orange hair a mess of curls.
"Caleb" she says subductively,
"to what do I owe the pleasure?" She asks biting her lip. I glare at her angrily,
"change into something more appropriate and come with me to my study, we need to have a discussion about your...activities" I say disgusted.
"I'll be two minutes" she shuts the door and comes back moments later wearing short black, ripped shorts that go half way up her ass leaving no room for imagination, with a black corset styled, spaghetti strapped mid-drift. "Comfortable?" I ask sarcastically. "Very" she replies biting her lip and smirking. I roll my eyes in frustration and mutter,
"follow me"
I mind link Cora to let her know what's happening, 'Cora, Delilah's been sleeping around with my pack fighters and I need to have a discussion with her in my office. I'm letting you know now so you won't get mad later also so if she tries anything you can come rescue me. Love you'
'If that skank tries anything I'll slap that bitch to the floor'
'That's my girl'

I shut the door to the office, shutting Delilah and I off from the packs prying ears.
"Take a seat" I say gesturing to the couch as I sit in my Alpha chair,
"we need to talk"
