Chapter 34 - Bonding Time

I watch as my mother in-law holds and stares at my child in awe.
"His names Adrian, I wanted to name him after my brother but I didn't want them to have the same name, so I changed a few letters" I say.
"It's a wonderful name" she replies,
"He looks just like Caleb with his hazel eyes and chubby cheeks, but I can see you in him too"
"You knew what I looked like as a baby?"
"Of course I did, your mother and I were best friends by then" her face goes serious,
"I'm sorry about what my mate said about your parents before"
"It's okay, I think I'm starting to finally move on from their death, I won't let the mention of their names affect me anymore. Speaking of which, the anniversary of their death is coming up soon, but I'll be able to cope as long as I have Caleb and a ton of vodka"
"Cora, honey, I understand you're going to be upset but I do not tolerate underage drinking"
"Mum" Caleb says annoyed from our bedroom, he walks out just as he slips on a clean shirt,
"She's a year away from being 21, what does it matter? I drank all the time when I was her age and look at me I'm fine"
"Yes but you made some stupid decisions" she replies,
"And I heard those stupid decisions, these walls aren't sound proof. Only my old room is"
Caleb's face goes bright red, I snicker.
Luna Josie continues,
"But there was always that one girl you would bring home, especially when you were drunk, what was her name again? Dal? No, Delilah. Ah yes, that's it. Delilah"
A growl escapes my lips. Luna Josie looks at me.
"You know her I presume?" She asks.
"Know her?" I ask bitterly, I chuckle,
"I hate her"
Caleb nervously rubs the back of his neck as the awkwardness continues to grow.
"She seemed like such a sweet girl, but she sure was loud" Luna Josie says.
"She is anything but sweet."
"Why would you say that?"
"Because she slept around with my unmated pack guards and especially my Delta, and then comes my favourite part" I say sarcastically,
"She then comes on to my mate"
Josie gasps.
"Caleb you didn't?!" She says.
"He didn't" I reply for him,
"He mind linked me straight away. Delilah is anything but sweet"
"Cora, sweetheart forget about her" Caleb says, gently pressing his lips to mine. I'm hesitant to kiss him in front of his mother. He notices but doesn't say anything.
He continues speaking,
"Who's the one I'm mated too?
Who's the one I spent last night with? Who's the one with the ring?"
He has a point.
"Thanks for telling me about getting married. While I'm here, have you got any other news that might be important?" Luna Josie says sassily.
"I only proposed last night, the pack doesn't even know" Caleb says agitated.
"Well, okay then." His mother says defeated.
"I'm going to go shower and try and get over his hang over. I'll be back soon." I say kissing Caleb on the cheek quickly.

Caleb's P.O.V

My mother raises her eye brows giving me a 'really?' look.
"You got her drunk" she says.
"No, it was Aidan. It was all his idea"
"Not like I've heard that before. Caleb, do you really expect me to believe that her over protective brother would take her out drinking."
"Yes, because that's exactly what happened"
There's a knock at my back door, interrupting our argument. I answer it and standing there is non other than Jace.
"Hello Jace" I say bitterly.
"Alpha Caleb" he says cheerfully.
"Why are you here?" I ask.
"Aidan sent me to give you back this" he holds out my wallet.
"Oh, tell him I said thanks"
"No problem"
"Also, Jace before you go, could you please tell my mother here that it was not in fact my idea to take my mate out last night but Aidan's"
"He's telling the truth Ms Rhyes, and I'm just as shocked as you are"
"Thank you Jace, good bye" I shut the door before he has a chance to respond. I turn around to face my mother with a smug look on my face.
"What was that all about?" She asks intrigued.
"I don't know what you're talking about" I reply.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about"
"No I don't"
"Yes you do. Why did you treat that lovely boy so rudely?"
"It's complicated"
"Oh I'm sure it is and I've got plenty of time."
"Ask Cora about it" I say huffily. She chuckles.
"What's so funny?" I ask.
"You're jealous of him" she replies.
"Why would I be jealous of him?"
"I don't know, you tell me"
"Just leave it alone mum"
"It seems I've struck a nerve" I glare at her and she chuckles again as she begins to play with the baby on her lap again.

"What did I miss?" Cora asks flopping down on the couch, now all clean and in her pyjamas.
"A young boy by the name of Jace stopped by and now Caleb's all sulky." Mum says chuckling. Cora smiles to herself,
"Of course he is"
"Just forget about it sweetheart" Cora says mockingly, and joins in laughing with my mother.
"I used to date Jace" Cora says picking up Adrian and nursing him.
"Is that so" Mum replies.
"I dated him after finding out Caleb was my mate, but to be fair Caleb tried to reject me"
"I didn't reject you" I but in.
"Caleb" my mother says angrily.
"I thought she was too young to be Luna" I reply.
"Which is fair" Cora adds in, handing Adrian back to my mother.
"But I didn't think I could control myself so I told her to live with her brother until she was older" I say embarrassed.
"Typical" Mum says,
"Just like your father"
"What?" I ask intrigued.
"You're father, when he first found out I was his mate, he didn't want a mate, he wanted to be free to date and sleep with whoever he wanted too. Until when I finally got a boy friend, he got jealous and his wolf took over, punched my boyfriend, confessed his love for me and it's been great ever since"

Cora's P.O.V

"Wow, you really are like your father Caleb" I say.
"Don't ever compare me to him" Caleb says furious, his wolf taking temporary control.
I jump slightly at his tone of voice.
"I'm sorry baby, I didn't mean to" I say hugging him. I feel Caleb relax from my touch.
"I'm sorry for yelling at you, I just really hate John" he hugs me tighter as he try's to control his wolf.
"It's okay, you've got me now, I love you Caleb and that's all that matters" I whisper.
"I love you Cora" he whispers back, he leans down to kiss me,
"Not in front of your mum" I say embarrassed, a blush rising to my cheeks.
"Don't mind me" Luna Josie says,
"Go ahead"
I continue to blush. Caleb presses his lips to mine. I can feel him smiling against my lips.
Josie covers Adrian's eyes.
"I said kiss her not make out with her" Josie says rolling her eyes. I try to pull away.
"My house" Caleb retorts back to his mum, and connects his mouth with mine again. I giggle and finally pull away. I press a finger to his lips to stop him,
"Later" I whisper winking and turning away.
