Katniss POV
Today is the funeral. It's finally here. The day I've been dreading the most. The decorations, food and everything is already there. Knowing people are already piling in, I better get dressed.
I pull on the black lace dress I had picked out the night before. The neckline shows a little cleavage, but it's not to bad. I slip on black three inch heels and grab my black shoulder purse. My hair is already done into a half up half down style. Make up very light just containing black mascara, a gold colored eye shadow, and pink log gloss.
After opening my door, I walk down the short stair way. Mom stands by the door in a navy colored shirt and black pants. Her hair is in its regular bun but has a braid going through it.
"You ready?" She softly says.
I nod. "Yeah. Prim!"
"Coming I'm coming!"
Than she runs down the steps her braided blonde hair flying. Prim wears a white striped black shirt tucked into a navy skirt. Blue flats are on her feet.
"See we have twenty minutes to get there!" She admits.
We quietly laugh before getting into the car. It takes only five minutes to get there so we have five minutes to greet. Spotting the familiar blonde headed family I walk over.
"Thank you guys for coming." I say as Peeta pulls me close. He kisses my forehead.
"I'm staying with you tonight." He whispers in my ear. That gets me to smile. "Okay."
Mr. Mellark smiles. "We are very sorry."
"Thank you." I state. "I'm sorry to leave you but I have to go help welcome the other guests."
Peeta nods. "I'm coming with you."
I wave goodbye before grabbing my boyfriends hand.
"Your singing at the after dinner?"
I say, "Yeah I think it's best to sing at least one song."
Peeta kisses my forehead as we walk over to our friends. "I'm proud of you. We'll leave early tonight."
I nod and soon we arrive to the corner my friends talk in.
Annie is the one to spot me first and runs over to hug me. I wrap my arms around her and she does the same.
"Oh Katniss. I'm really really sorry."
I give a sad smile. "It's okay."
Johanna, Clove and Cato pat my back while Marvel tries to give a joke. Glimmer and Finnick hug me.
I say, "How about we sit?"
The group nods. I end up not with my family. Prim sits next to my mom and the Mellarks. Peeta sits behind me with the boys as I sit on the end of this row with the girls. Annie squeezes my hand while sitting next to me.
The director makes a speech about my dad. He continues to talk about his life and his family. Out of the corner of my eye, I spot my Aunt Effie and Uncle Haymitch. Haymitch winks at me before I turn my attention back to the director.
Suddenly the doors open and we hear clicks of heels walk down the aisle way. Me and the girls turn and gasp once we see who is walking down. (A/N Pretty little liars anyone?)
There stands Delly in a black dress hanging onto Gale who is in a black suit. I start shaking and tap Peeta. Peeta gives me a confused look and turns around. His face goes red in anger but I grab his hand.
"Peeta, I will counter him after before the dinner." I whisper to him.
He sighs. "Katniss, they can't just come barging in to this funeral. They didn't get any invitation."
I coo, "Hey listen to me. It will be fine okay?"
Peeta nods and kisses my head. "Okay Kat."
I give him a smile before turning around. The service continues and it goes by fast that I don't even remember walking a way from his grave. I spot Gale smirking at me by a bench.
Frowning I rush over and cross my arms.
"How dare you walk into the funeral that you weren't invited too."
Gale says, "He meant something in my life too."
I scoff, "Oh please. I better not see you at the dinner. If I do, the police will be involved."
Delly makes the right time to walk over. "Oh hello Katniss. I'm sorry about your lost. We both are." She says glaring at me and Gale.
Arms wrap around my waist.
"I'm sure you are very sorry but you should leave." A voice says.
Peeta.
"Well I guess we will go." Gale says and pulls Delly away to a car.
I release a breath i didn't know I was holding. Peeta tugs on my arm.
"Let's go to the dinner Katniss."
I nod my head as tears fall.

Everyone cheers as I stand on stage ready to sing. I strum the guitar before starting to sing.

"Hit the ground, hit the ground, hit the ground, oh oh
Only sound, only sound that you hear is "No"
You never saw it coming
Slipped when you started running
And now you've come undone and I, I, I, I

Seen you fall, seen you crawl on your knees, eh eh
Seen you lost in a crowd, seen your colors fade
Wish I could make it better
Someday you won't remember
This pain you thought would last forever and ever

There you'll stand, ten feet tall
I will say, "I knew it all along."
Your eyes-wider than distance
This life-sweeter than fiction

Just a shot, just a shot in the dark, oh oh
All you got, all you got are your shattered hopes
They never saw it coming
You hit the ground running
And now you're onto something, I, I, I say

What a sight, what a sight when the light came on
Proved me right, proved me right when you proved them wrong
And in this perfect weather
It's like we don't remember
The rain we thought would last forever and ever

There you'll stand, ten feet tall
I will say, "I knew it all along."
Your eyes-wider than distance
This life-sweeter than fiction

There you'll stand, next to me
All at once, the rest is history
Your eyes-wider than distance
This life-sweeter than fiction, fiction

I'll be one of the many saying,
"Look at you now, look at you now, now."
I'll be one of the many saying,
"You made us proud, you made us proud, proud."
I'll be one of the many saying,
"Look at you now, look at you now, now."
I'll be one of the many saying,
"You made us proud, you made us proud, proud."

And when they call your name
and they put your picture in a frame
You know that I'll be there time and again
'Cause I loved you when, when you

Hit the ground, hit the ground, hit the ground, oh oh
Only sound, only sound that you heard was "No"
Now in this perfect weather
It's like we don't remember
The rain we thought would last forever and ever (forever)

There you'll stand, ten feet tall
I will say, "I knew it all along."
Your eyes-wider than distance
This life-sweeter than fiction

There you'll stand next to me
All at once, the rest is history
Your eyes-wider than distance
This life-sweeter than fiction, fiction

It's sweeter than fiction
It's sweeter, yeah
It's sweeter than, sweeter
Sweeter than fiction"
I finish with a final strum of the guitar.
Claps and cheers from family and friends filled the room. I bow and hop off the stage and run into Peeta's arms.
"I love you."
Peeta kisses me.
"I love you too."
