Excuse any errors!
London in the MM.
Victoria
Lately I'd been getting so many messages on my phone from unknown numbers. This whole situation was weird to me. I wasn't sure of who it was, but I made a mental note to make Odell aware of it when he arrived home.
"Who's that?" Mimi asked. "Somebody is blowing your phone up."
"You remember when I told you about the random numbers?" I asked.
"Yea."
"Well that's it. Please remind me to change my number today." I rolled my eyes. "Ridiculous."
"So did you tell Odell?"
I shook my head. "No. But I will tell him when he gets home. It's getting pretty weird."
Mimi nodded.
So how have you been? You know after all that stuff happened with William?" I said changing the subject.
"I've been doing quite well. Now I don't have anything else to worry about."
"Did you make a decision on the dresses?"
"Yea I found a few options for you to choose from. I think you'll be happy with what I came up with." She smiles. "The girls are gonna love this."
"Speaking of girls, I've been going back and forth with myself the past couple of days." I sighed. "Maybe Maddie shouldn't be in the wedding."
"Well I definitely understand that after everything that has happened. You don't think she'd do anything to sabotage the wedding?"
"Miranda I don't know." I stood up. "I'm really trying to not be mean or rude about this. I'm just very low on trust right now with her."
"If only London were here." I sighed and shook my head.
"I'm sorry sis. I knew how much she meant to you." Mimi hugs me.
"It's okay." I nodded and smiled.
I heard the locks on the front door click and Odell walked in, shopping bags in hand.
"What's up?" He asks sitting the bags down on the table.
He immediately walks over to me and places a kiss on my lips. Odell nods at Mimi and walks into the kitchen.
"Well I think I'm gonna go now. I still have to take care of some things down at the store." Mimi said.
I nodded and walked her over to the door. She embraced me and opened the door.
"I'll call you later to go over more of the details honey." She says.
I nodded and waved her off before shutting the door after her. I locked it and made my way back towards the living room where Odell had gotten comfortable on the couch.
"I found the perfect dress baby. And I promise it won't cause you THAT much." I said giggling and climbing into his lap."
"Baby I told you to get whatever your little heart desires. Money isn't a problem and this is our wedding." Odell says. "You deserve the best of the best baby."
I smiled, kissing his cheek. "You are the sweetest you know? And that's why I love you with alllllll my heart."
Odell
I laughed and wrapped my arm around her, remote in the other hand as I channel surfed. She placed kisses all over my face and cheeks.
When Victoria did this it was either she wanted something or she had something to tell me.
"What is it?" I asked muting the television.
Victoria looks at me nervously and positions herself on the couch next to me.
"Odell I tried to get in contact with your parents today." She said.
I groaned and got up from the couch. I grabbed the bags and made my way towards the stairs.
"I know baby I know! But I really think your parents should be at the wedding." Victoria says following me up the steps. "Odell this is an important life event."
This was just a conversation I didn't want to have right now. The relationship between my parents and I was complicated and had been for a long time. It's been years since I seen them. And I was sure they didn't want anything to with me.
"V I told you before, my people and I? We don't have the best relationship." I walked into my bedroom.
I knew it was wrong, but I pretty much tuned Victoria out while I put the stuff I'd gotten from the store away in my closet.
Truth is, I just wasn't ready to face my moms and pops right now. That was a part of my life I really wasn't ready to deal with at the moment. Family was very important to Victoria, but our situations were very different.
"Odell are you even listening?"
I shrugged and cut on the tv to ESPN. I kicked off my sneakers and hopped into the bed. "Yeah yeah." I said
"Babe I just think it's time you talk to them. Life is away too short to not set things straight."
"What makes you think they'll even come? I don't care if they're there or if they aren't. But as usual, you're gonna do what you want anyways."
"Well excuse me for caring." She rolled her eyes and threw the book on nightstand. "But you know what? I'm not trying anymore."
I sighed and looked at her. I knew she was upset but it's the truth. Once Victoria had something made up in her mind, it was hard to convince her otherwise.
My mom was probably still with that no good husband of hers and my father, well I haven't seen him since he got divorced my mom. My dad and I were close but he stopped coming around like he used to after he moved out.
Even though it was years ago, I still remember what happened vividly during my childhood.
-Years Before-
"So you just gone choose this nigga over me!" I yelled.
"Baby you wouldn't understand. I love him." My mama said.
"After all that he's put you through? You still gonna stay with him? I always thought you were smarter than that." I shook my head.
But after those words left my mouth, she slapped me. "Who do you think you're talking to?"
I looked at him then her. "It's either me or him."
She didn't say anything. She sat down on the sofa and put her head down. I shook my head and walked to my room. I started to pack all my clothes up.
I wasn't gonna sit around and continue to watch him hurt my mama. If she didn't care, why should I? Over the last 2 years, he'd put her through so much and she just takes it. Every time I try to talk to her about it she tells me that I'm only a child and that I don't understand.
I was seventeen years old. I was old enough to understand that a man putting his hands on a woman was wrong. No woman deserved this, certainly not a woman as good as my mother.
Once I was done packing up almost all of my stuff I grabbed my bags. I walked downstairs and stopped to look at my mama. I shook my head. "I hope you someday find the strength to leave this clown ass nigga."
I rolled my eyes and walked out the door. Guess I'm on my own now..
