When I woke up I was in a hospital bed. Next to me was also a guy who I did not know. He was on the small couch sleeping.
I looked around the room to realize that I was in a hospital room. Then it all came crashing down to me.
A hospital room.
James dying.
He died and left me.
Desperate to get out of here I tried to get the IV out of arm.
What am I doing here anyway? I thought.
My heart rate must have increased because the heart monitor started beeping faster waking up the guy who was next to me. He looked to my arm and then my eyes, I figured he realized what I was trying to do because he grasped my wrist firmly.
"Stop, you are going to hurt yourself," The guy said.
"I'm just trying to take this IV off of me so can you please let go of my wrist because I have to go."
"I can't do that, at least not until the doctor clears you to be discharge." He said.
"Just leave me alone! I don't even know you, Who are you anyway?" Maybe I was being a little rude but I just wanted to go home and forget everything.
Home?
That word sounded strange to me now that James was gone.
"Could you stop being so stubborn for a second, and my name is Noah. So, would you please calm down!" He said sternly.
"Fine... can you at least let go of my wrist you're hurting me." Once he realized he was grasping my wrist too tightly he let go.
"Sorry" He uttered. Avoiding his eyes I turned to look the other way.
"Ugh, my head is killing me" I groaned closing my eyes for a brief second.
When was the last time I had a full night sleep.
Hmm, probably weeks ago. I laughed in my head.
"Would you like some water?" The guy asked startling me.
"Umm, yes please-" My sentence was cut off by the door opening.
A man who I recognized as Dr. Miller because I had seen him a few times when checking up on James came in.
"Good morning Ms. Kingston. According to your results you fainted due to dehydration, malnutrition and sleep deprivation. It also seems that your immune system is very weak, which is not convenient in this cold weather so I just suggest you take vitamins" Said the doctor.
Like I didn't know that.
I nodded my head nevertheless.

He had been a family friend since as long I can remember and had been in charge of taking care of Caroline in the hospital so it was to say I knew him and his family pretty well.
