"Always remember,

my heart holds you

when my arms cannot" -Perry Poetry

Gabriella

My shift was over. And right now I was grabbing my things from the locker room.

Shrugging my sweater on, I proceeded to walk out of the room.

Normally, I would exit from the back door, but today I didn't feel like going around the building, so I just walked through the main door.

As I turned to the corner, I could see many people enjoying their stay. Some were reading, as others talked to each other. As I near the door, I caught a glimpse of Mr. Adams's daughter, Emily. She was laughing at something the guy said.

Finally nearing the door, I made my way out.

A cold breeze caressed my face as I looked around. Hugging my bag tighter, hoping that it would somehow provide some heat, I began to walk.

As I was walking, my phone buzzed from my back pocket and I grabbed it to check it. As I was unlocking it, I suddenly bumped into someone. My phone had fallen from my hand and was now long forgotten as I looked at the person I bumped to.

It was a man, probably not much older than I was.

"Sir, I'm really sorry. I was looking down at my phone causing me to bump into you." I said quickly.

The man fixed his suit, but I couldn't help but notice how his tie was loose, and his hair was sticking out in odd angles.

"I- It's alright. No worries." I squinted my eyes at his speech. His words were slurred, and it was kind of hard to understand him. "Where is she?" He managed to say. It was then that it finally dawned to me. His breath smelled like alcohol. He was drunk.

"Umm, who are you talking about?" I asked, unsure of what to do.

"My girlfr-, Emily. Where is she?" I frowned at the name.

Was he talking about the same Emily?

The man tried to move aside to go past me, but I grabbed his forearm stopping him from doing so.

He stopped and glanced at my hand.

"Sir, you need to calm down. You're drunk and not stable enough to go inside."

"I'm fine. I'm not drunk." He answered as he tried to shrug off my hold on his arm.

"Emily! We need to fgskhgkj-" The man slurred his words once again.

I let go of my hold on him but placed it on his shoulders instead.

"EMILY." He began yelling and my eyes widened.

"Sir! You need to calm down. You're starting to yell and it's going to cause a ruckus. How about you send a text message to the person you want to talk to." I said as I guided him to lean against the wall.

The man pulled out his phone and proceeded to unlock it with his fingerprint. As he opened his messages, he seemed to be struggling.

"Ca-can you type the message. I can't ejfjhfj." He said, his sentence barely understandable. But as he pushed his phone towards me, I understood what he wanted me to do.

I grabbed the phone from his finger as my finger moved across the screen typing "I'm here. Come out".

I waited for a reply and a few seconds later I got a reply, "I'm coming".
