"Let it hurt

Until it can't hurt

Anymore" -Liam Ryan

Noah

While we wait for our drinks, Logan, Emily and I engage in a conversation.

"Logan, any girls out there?" Emily lays her cheek on her palm while her elbow is propped on the table.

"There might be one, but I'm not sure." Logan winks at her.

"Oh, Emily. You might need to present him to one of your friends." I say and she laughs.

"You're right, don't worry Logan. You won't be celibate for long." Emily laughs and Logan shakes his head while smiling.

I glance to my right and I see Gabriella at a table with two little boys. She's putting their drinks down. But that's not what I'm looking at.

My eyes focus on her face. And I don't like what I see.

I don't like it at all.

Her face is pale, but her cheeks are flushed. Hairs stick to her sides. The bags under her eyes are so dark that I wouldn't be surprised if she hasn't slept in days. Her eyes are red and I see her blinking away from the light every few seconds. Overall, she doesn't look good.

The last time I saw her at Cole's apartment, she looked better than that.

So what changed?

"Noah?" I turn to my brother who is waiting for something.

"Um, sorry I got side-tracked. What were you saying?"

"We should go to the club." My eyes widened at that.

"Are you serious?" I ask.

Logan begins to laugh. "No. I'm just joking."

"Oh." I let out a breath.

From my vision I see Gabriella making her way towards our table, a tray on her hands. But I don't have much time to get a good look at her because my phone starts ringing.

I reach into the pocket of my coat and answer. "Hello?"

"Noah, Cole has been in a car accident." As soon as the words leave my father I stand up abruptly and I see Gabriella stumble back at my sudden move.

"What do you mean Cole has been in a car accident? When did this happen?" I ask and I feel my heart, beat faster with each passing second.

"What did you just say?" I feel a hand on my forearm and I glance to see Gabriella with a fearful look in her eyes.

I'm about to speak, but I close my mouth and look away trying to pay attention to my father's words.
