Gabriella

I had a cold and I felt horrible. The pounding in my head and the dryness of my eyes only made it worse.

But despite having a cold, I forced myself to come to work.

I wasn't coughing yet, nor did I have a runny nose. Which was good because I didn't want to serve customers and sharing my cold with them.

That's what I get for not dressing appropriately for the weather, especially on a rainy day. I knew it was going to be cold yesterday, but I assumed it would be at night. So I had dressed in a simple pair of jeans, a long sleeve shirt, and a jacket. It was enough to keep me warm throughout the day. But somewhere along 11 a.m. the weather drastically dropped. And much to my dismay it started raining. Which led to me getting caught in the rain.

I knew I would suffer the consequences, but I wasn't expecting it to happen so soon.

So when I woke up around midnight with a killing headache. I took a few pills for the pain, but they did nothing for me. And I didn't have any cold medicine, which meant that I needed to go buy some after my shift today.

With a heavy sigh, I continue working. The smell of coffee relaxed me, but the smell of pastries that I usually adore was a menace to my stomach at this precise moment.

That or the fact that I hadn't eaten anything at all today and it was already afternoon. But it's not that I wasn't hungry, because I was. However, every time I ate, I just threw up. My stomach was rejecting all foods. At least I had managed to keep down the coffee from earlier.

At least I only had two hours left on my shift.

Walking to a table I quickly introduced myself. "Hi I'm Gabriella, are you guys ready to order?"

The woman looked around the rest, who I'm guessing is her family and nodded.

"For the little ones, just a hot chocolate and two chocolate chip cookies for each of them" I jotted down after taking a quick look at the two boys who were too busy looking out the window. "And for me just a white mocha latte and a croissant."

"All right, I will bring this for you in a few minutes." After that, I walked away. Someone else would prepare the drinks while I placed the pastries on a plate.

Soon enough the drinks were ready. Placing them on a tray I walked towards the table.

"Okay, this is for the little ones." I said placing their cookies and drink in front of them. "And this is for you." I place her drink and pastry in front of her.

"Thank you, dear."

"No problem, is there anything I can bring to you?"

"No, you're fine. Thank you again." Nodding away, I leave the mom and her children to eat.

Walking to the counter I call Amy's name. "Amy." She looks up from the register and smiles at me.

"Hey, Gabriella." She says.

"Hi, has anyone served table 8?" I ask motioning to table where three familiar people were seated.

Her brows furrow in thought. "Yes, these are their drinks. You can take it to them if you want."

I quickly nod and walk to their table.

As I near the table, I hear a phone ring from Noah's side. And I watch as he reaches into the inside pocket of his coat before taking his phone out.
