"If someone makes you feel, let them" -Reyna Biddy

Noah

After she left, all of us proceeded to eat. I was eating with so much gusto, and I realized that it was because I hadn't eaten a proper meal after Caroline died.

I felt better today, maybe it was because I had come to understand that Caroline was finally at rest. Or, maybe it was because I had dreamed of her last night. Whatever it was, I was thankful.

"So, Noah. How is the company doing?" Mr. Adams asked.

"It's doing pretty well. My brother is still away working on a new construction plan for the company, which I believe is going very well." I responded.

"That's good to hear son. You graduate this year along with Cole right?" He asked looking over at Cole and I.

"Yes sir, I will finally be graduating from law school." Cole exclaimed. "I have to say, I will not be missing school after I graduate." He continued and Emily laughed.

For a while the four us continued talking as we ate. Who knows how much time had passed, but eventually I had excused myself to the restroom.

"Would you please excuse me, I have to use the restroom." I said and they nodded.

As I reached the hallway to the restroom I saw someone leaning front against the wall. Getting closer I could tell that it was her.

What is she doing out here? I thought.

I knew that the staff had their own private room to rest and use the restroom, so I knew she wasn't standing there to use the restroom. Specially, since the restrooms were big.

Getting closer I stopped walking. I don't think she heard me coming because if she had, she would have looked up in my direction. I stood there reluctant to approach her before deciding to speak up.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

She must have been startled because she jumped a little before turning to look at me.

Looking in my direction I was able to see her. She did not look well. I had noticed it earlier, but she looked worse than before.

Not only that, but she also seemed to be sweating.

"Umm, yeah I'm fine. Just a little tired." She said finally looking into my eyes. She moved from the wall and stood straight.

"I don't think so. I apologize for intruding but I have seen you before, and I have to say that you don't look tired right now. You look sick." I said to her.

She opened her mouth to say something, but closed it before saying anything.

She didn't say anything for a while. She just stayed there leaning against the wall once again with her eyes closed. I walked forward to make sure she hadn't fallen asleep. But I stopped a foot away when she sighed.

"I'm sorry." She said.

Unsure as to why she was apologizing I asked, "For what?"

"That day at the hospital, the day we first saw each other. I was rude and I shouldn't have. I left without saying thank you for what you did and for that I apologize." She finally said.

Ever since that day I had deemed her as a disrespectful person, but her apology seemed sincere. Maybe it was because she looked vulnerable in the state she was in but I suddenly felt like the bad guy. Dismissing it I proceeded to say the next words.
