Gabriella

Yesterday had been the turmoil of events. After I arrived home, the events kept playing in my head over and over again, and I simply wondered whether I did the right thing.

I was worried.

Worried that perhaps I did wrong in approaching them. It never should have happened.

I should have stayed away from the predicament when I had the chance, but I just couldn't.

The best thing to do is to avoid Emily and the other guys. Perhaps then they'll get the memo.

I just need to stay away as long as possible, in case Emily got the wrong idea.

Ignoring the thoughts that were passing through my mind, I decided to prepare some food for myself so that I can get started on the work I was assigned in my classes.

Today I don't work, which means I can have the whole day to myself.

After my classes ended I went to this coffee shop inside the campus. And the first thing I notice as I step inside is the interior design the building has. More fitted for college students that come here to study or hang out.

The place wasn't as loud as I had expected considering the time.

Instead, it was filled with students who are busy with the work in front of them. With the occasional friend groups who are talking. But at a decent level, not trying to disrupt the peace of those who are working.

Trying to avoid sitting close to other students, I had sat in front of the window. For some time I focused on my work until I got hungry and decided to order something for myself.

Pushing some of my work to the side, I looked out the window.

Today was a gloomy day. It had been raining early, but it didn't bother me as I found comfort in the rain.

It was like my own safe haven.

"Here is your order." A guy said placing my drink and pastry on my right.

"Thank you." I said quietly. The guy smiled and left.

I proceeded to eat my pastry as I continued to look out the window.

Seeing different people walk. Each preoccupied with their own thoughts.

Sometime after I was done, a guy sat next to me. The chairs had a lot of space in between but he was still next to me with his back towards me. He appeared to be talking on the phone as I heard him talk to someone.

Taking a sip of my drink I quickly scanned my work. The sheets were filled with a blue highlighter and some notes that appear to scribble depending on who was looking at it.

Taking another sip, I relaxed. Perhaps I had needed today. Most of the time I was working, but today gave me the chance to focus on other stuff and feel like an actual college student.

Who I sometimes forget I am.

Considering how my life has treated me this past few months. But perhaps that's my fate, and I must learn to live with it.

"Gabriella?" I heard a voice call my name. I turned to see that Cole was the guy that was seated next to me.

"Wow, it really is you." He smiled at me. I gave him a small smile in return, not knowing what else to do.
