"Anyone can show up when you're happy. But the ones who stay by your side when your heart falls apart, they are your true friends." -Unknown

Gabriella

It's been two days after the incident that happened at Cole's apartment. And so far I have not seen either Cole or Noah. They haven't come to the café, at least not during my shifts.

But I liked it that way. I feared that if they saw me they would ask questions. And that was something that I could not do, at least not yet.

I do admit that I missed Cole's constant messages, asking me how I am. But those haven't come either.

Perhaps, I scared him away.

And maybe it was for the better.

Over those two days, I had been thinking of what Cole said to me that day. He wanted to be my friend.

I thought about it, deeply.

I even had my answer prepared.

Dismissing my thoughts, I focused on making drinks for my customers. My shift ends in 10 minutes.

Putting a tap on the drink, I walked to the counter and handed it to the customer.

"Here you go sir, your drink." I say to the elderly man looking at his phone.

He glances up and looks at me, then to his drink.

"Thank you, miss. Have a good day." He says grabbing his drink before turning away.

I nod at him and turn away as well.

I proceed to make the next drinks. A mocha latte and a cappuccino.

Making the finishing touches, I decorate the drinks.

Once I'm satisfied, I smile.

I walk to the counter to hand the drinks to the customer, but I stop in my tracks. He was here.

There in line was Cole, waiting for his drink.

I hesitate on giving him his drink, but then I realize that this is my job. And it wouldn't be fair to treat Cole like this when he has been so nice to me.

Taking a deep breath I walk the remaining steps left.

"Cole." I speak first, and he smiles at me.

"Gabriella, hello sweetheart. I was waiting for you." Cole says as I hand him his drinks.

"You were?"

"Yeah, I've been meaning to talk to you. I came here hoping to find you. Umm, when does your shift end?" He asks rubbing the back of his neck as he waits for my response.

I advert my eyes to the clock on the wall.

"In 4 minutes." I say and he nods.

"I will wait for you." He smiles at me and I find myself smiling back before turning away.

As I continue to work, the past 4 minutes were agonizing.

I was secretly hoping that they added more time to my shift.

But there was no such luck.

Soon I found myself opening my locker and taking my bag out. Unwrapping the apron I place it inside my bag.
