~Two months later
Gabriella
I was cleaning the counter when a chirpy voice spoke. "Can I have a mocha latte for me and a cappuccino for my dad."
I look in front of me and I'm astonished to see who is on the other side of the counter.
"Ms. Gabriella?"
"Aiden" I reply back.
"Wow. It's nice too see you again! Oh, you work here?" He questions me excitedly. But before I even have the chance to answer, a man approaches Aiden standing next to him. The man looks down at Aiden and puts a hand on his shoulder.
"Son, what are you doing?"
"I was just talking to the pretty lady, dad. Look at her, that's the person I saw the day we went so see mommy." Aiden finishes and his dad looks at me.
"Hello, sir." I acknowledge him
"Hello miss, I'm sorry about my son. He can be a bit eccentric at times." The dad explains and I chuckle in response.
Luckily nobody is waiting in the line beside Aiden and his dad so we are not holding anyone up.
"It's fine, sir. Aiden is a nice kid. I like talking to him."
"That he is." He responds, ruffling Aiden's hair.
"Dad! Stop it." He replies.
"Did you order everything, son?" The dad asks.
"Just the drinks, but there is so much to eat! I don't know what to order?" He exclaims placing both of his palms against his cheeks.
I laugh at the motion and his dad turns to me with a smile on his face, but I'm too focused on the boy in front of me to pay attention to it.
"Well, why don't you ask the pretty lady in front of us what's best for you." The guy points out and Aiden's eyes immediately go towards me.
"Miss, what should I get?" He asks, his forehead forming into a crease.
"Well, considering that you ordered a mocha latte, let's see." I stop and think to our many pastries. "Do you like chocolate?" I ask and his eyes widened and twinkle at the mention of chocolate.
"Yeah, I love it!" He says and I nod.
"Then I suggest getting the chocolate croissant. It's our specialty." I say with a smile.
"A chocolate croissant. Okay, I'll get it." He says almost jumping excitedly.
I put the order on the screen in front of me and then turn to the man. "And you sir?"
"I guess I will get the same." He says.
Two chocolate croissants. I mutter to myself.
"Your total is $14.28" I say and he hands me his card.
I make the transaction and print the receipt.
"Thank you" Aiden's dad replies and I nod.
"Bye Ms. Gabriella!" Aiden exclaims happily.
