"I didn't understand true sadness

Until I stopped wishing for tomorrow

And started

Begging

For yesterday" -L.E Bowman

Noah

"Hello dad." I said entering his office. He simply waved at me before focusing his attention to the person on the phone.

I sat down in one of the couched he had in his office while I waited patiently for his phone call to end.

"Yes, if the project is going well then you can head back to New York. We can send one of our super-visors to take care of the rest." Dad spoke to the person on the phone.

"Logan it is up to you son. I trust you. If you want to stay another month they you can. Just don't overwork yourself son." He said. And I looked up once he mentioned by brother's name. It had been a few months since I last saw him and wondered if he would be coming back.

"Alright son, take care. Bye" My father said before placing the phone down.

"Sorry about that Noah, Logan just wanted to clarify some things about the project." He explained as he came to the couch opposite of me, unbuttoning his blazer before sitting down.

"Is he coming back soon?" I asked, hopeful of his response.

"Logan said he might extend his stay to make sure everything is running smoothly. I told him I could send one of the super-visors if needed." Dad explained to me.

"Dad, do you ever regret letting Logan do something different in the company rather than becoming the CEO?" I asked him. I have always wondered whether he resented my brother for neglecting the job. My father was a very kind man, and despite many parents forcing their kids to take over their businesses, he chose to give us a choice-something for which I will always be grateful.

"No, of course not. I want my children to choose their own future. Logan did not want the job, he wanted to do something he liked and that is engineering. He still works for the company and has his shares, just like the rest of my kids, but he serves the company in a different way. If he is happy doing what he is doing, then so am I. Same with Elise, your sister wants to teach as her true profession. Unlike you and Logan, she wants to do something different rather than working at the company with us. All three of you guys are capable of handling this industry because I raised you that way. But each of you, have chosen to do something that makes you happy. You being the youngest, I never thought you would be interested in this field. But, you showed your interest and liking towards this type of work since you were young. And for that I offered you the position after I wish to retire. If you wanted to do something else, then I would just appoint someone that qualifies for the position. You three are my kids and I want you to be happy. I would never force either three of you into this world." He explained as he phoned his secretary to bring us some drinks.

I simply nodded because I was speechless. I knew my father was a good man, but I never knew he had that kind of heart. Maybe it had something to do with my grandfather forcing him into this business. But now that I know he feels I feel more respect towards him.

A knock on the door brought me out my thoughts and in came Mr. Davis, my father's secretary.

"Thank you, Mr. Davis" I thanked him as he placed my coffee on the table in the middle.
