"I can't believe that Emmy and Stephen are having a baby. I mean they've been together even less time than us." I exclaim pitifully.
Meghan looks up from chopping vegetables.
"Yeah. Kids would be nice, but I'm not ready for that yet. What about you?"
Ok, so she does want kids. I do too, I just know that I'm not ready. Meghan and I aren't even married. We've only been together... 11 and a half months! It's almost our anniversary. Crap, I should probably plan something. I wonder what she's planning...
"Charlie? I asked you a question." She prompts.
"What? Sorry. What did you say?"
"I said, what about you? How do you feel about kids?"
"Kids would be great, but in the future."
"Cool. So we feel the same way." She says, returning to the vegetables.
I carry on chopping onions, which cause my eyes to burn.
"Dam onions. I feel like my tear ducts are gonna explode."
I then notice a ring, shining on Meghan's finger.
I know what I'm gonna do for our anniversary.
