Carl's POV

As we drove farther and farther down the road, my sense of dread became overwhelming.

I tried sitting next to an open window to calm myself down but it didn't work. I opted to simply sit next to my dad while he drove. I kept a tight grip on my pistol.

Soon enough, I saw another note taped to a tree.

"Whoa, dad," I called. "Stop the RV."

He put on the brakes and I jumped out, running to the tree.

"Carl!" I heard my dad call. I ignored him.

I ripped the note off the tree and read it.

Man, you're really asking for it, aren't you? I'm sorry it has to be this way.

Confused, I looked up and almost jumped out of my skin when I saw a man standing in front of me.

There was a bandana around his head, covering his nose and mouth.

He was holding a gun to me.

In the millisecond between me looking up and him pulling the trigger, I distinctly saw a W on the man's forehead.

A Wolf.

But as the trigger was pulled and the bullet entered my body, I forgot all if that as everything went black.
